Monday Notes…

Hope those in the US are having a good Memorial Day today. I’m off work since the university is closed, but it’s back to the usual routine tomorrow. As far as catching up with last week’s stuff… I’ll try and do double posts on the scheduled day instead of trying to catch up all at once. So today will be Haruhi (and Saturday’s ep of Gar-kun), getting back on track with Simoun tomorrow, so on.

Anyways, news.

Binbou Shimai Monogatari Site Opens
Starts June 29 (Thursday) at 26:40, 10 episodes total, animation by Toei Animation. Yet to read the manga. Cast has changed from the drama CD, so no Chiwa Saitou or Rie Kugimiya. Instead, Maaya Sakamoto as Kyou (the older sister) and Tomoko Kaneda as Asu (the younger sister). Asu — a very reliable 9 year old that gets stuff around the house done — sounds quite different than the usual Tomoko Kaneda character. Characters like Herb from Futago Hime or Fuyuno from Magikano are the first that come to mind when I think of her. Be interesting to see a different side :)

To quickly sum up: the broadcast isn’t in chronological order because it’s somewhat the same way in the novels, and they also wanted to end it with that episode. However, outside of the Mikuru episode, it will be in chronological order on the DVDs. They did “Asahina Mikuru no Bouken” first on purpose — you’d understand it as the show went along. And “Kotoushoukougun” (”Solitary Island Syndrome”) didn’t have that much of an ending in the novels so they changed it around. “Someday In the Rain” comes right before Shoushitsu (the 4th volume of the novels) and is the last of the anime episodes (hence episode 14).

I thought that’d be the answer for why the broadcast wasn’t in chronological order ;)

Not really anything of interest to me…

And they’re going to file for bankruptcy due to issues with creditors that have come up. The only CPM product I’ve purchased was their release of Narue no Sekai, which was great. Other than that, not much else in their catalog that interested me.

  1. I hope Toei doesn’t mess up the animation of Binbo Shimai Monogatari. I’m really looking forward to this show.

  3. I remmeber being pleasantly surprised when CPM released all of Narue no Sekai in a relatively cheap box initially, instead of releasing one volume at a time and then a cheap box a year plus later like most R1 distributors do. Munto’s not bad either, and Beautiful Dreamer–but I think that’s all the stuff CPM put out that I own…
