New, but not really new
Hey, y’all~! It’s been more than a few months since I last said anything around here… not that I had anything interesting to say then or now, but I figured I’d try out this WordPress thing that everybody else is using along with trying to post just a wee bit more. The old pages are still around so any links should still work just fine. Now to try and figure out a decent theme…
I would try to blame the lack of posting on my almost full-time job working the phones at the University of Georgia HelpDesk, but there’s a lot of downtime there (enough for much Nico Nico-ing) so that wouldn’t pass… Once you stop doing something it’s hard to get back into the habit. I’ll try posting more than once a month as a start (^^;;
Anyways, moving on now… here’s my viewing schedule for the season, along with my best attempt to sum up how I feel about each in approximately one sentence… or paragraph, maybe.
Sunday
Kyou no 5 no 2
I didn’t like the character design (faces weird), but then the second episode turned out to be good so now I watch, still hoping that each episode’s animation director moves the look closer to the manga design.
Monday
I like SHAFT. I liked ef ~ a tale of memories.. Therefore I watch, and I like (Chihiro showed up in this week’s episode~). And thankfully, one of my coworkers is a grad student from Germany.
Wednesday
Like Kyou no 5 no 2, I didn’t like the character design, then I saw it in motion. Rie Kugimiya as cute tsundere Taiga. Good enough for me.
Thursday
KyoAni fan, so of course. Mei-chan kawaii yo Mei-chan! in last week’s episode. Thank you, episode animation director Yukiko Horiguchi, character designer for Lucky Star (easy to guess). I’ll have the kleenex ready for later on, though. And why do you keep on doing this to us, TBS? (4:3 Pan & Scan instead of 16:9)
Character design not my preference, but interested because of director Kou Matsuo. Pre-scoring isn’t having as much an effect as it did for Kurenai, though, since the material isn’t suited to it. Last week’s story was somewhat odd.. Jukki Hanada chief scriptwriter. And why do you keep on doing this to us, TBS? (4:3 Pan & Scan instead of 16:9)
Saturday
Rumors of internal strife among staff have me worried. Change of chief scriptwriter has me worried. The first two episodes being mostly recaps didn’t help (^^;; However, the new “pattern” of characters doing chara-nari is okay. Jun’ichi Satou (ARIA, Futago Hime, etc., etc.) as supervisor is good — I’m waiting for when he does storyboards for an ep. When will they get back to the manga storyline, though?
Kannagi
Yamakan FTW! After being fired from KyoAni, director Yutaka Yamamoto tries to prove that he’s at the level of director, and succeeds so far. Best animation quality this season. Easy to do since he took some KyoAni staff with him to form Ordet.
Tales of the Abyss (HD)
I haven’t played the game. But I have watched a playthrough of the game (on Nico Nico, of course), so I know how the story goes. Anise kawaii yo Anise! Faithful to the game, but can they do it all in 26 episodes?
Kemeko Deluxe
Read the first volume of the manga. Director Tsutomu Mizushima (Dokuro-chan, Dai Mahou Touge, Hare Guu) = chaos as expected. OP and ED are this season’s tops in crazy stuff — I agree with the bit in the ED about Freud being a perverted old man. Chiwa Saito at her best(?). Rie Kugimiya’s non-tsundere characters are always amusing.
To Aru Majutsu no Index (HD)
Shana? Light novel anime means much explanation of setting. But I’m okay with it since Index and Komoe-sensei are so cute. Though Komoe-sensei could cut back just a bit on the smoking and drinking. It ruins the loli teacher image (^^;;

Testing comments… this working?
Holy crap…
Welcome back, ol’ king of anime bloggers!
Nice transformation..
Interestingly, I believe we have the same dual laptop scheme. Nice schedule
Hey it’s great to see MAB back alive again. Can’t thank you enough for introducing me to Futago Hime by the way.
I never really liked the character design of ToraDora! either, especially the way Ryuuji looked, but then when I watched it I started lovin’ all the characters. And welcome back too, even though I probably didn’t exist in the blogosphere when you left
Okaeri! Good to see you back–looks like we’re watching a lot of the same things, this fall is a good season to be an anime fan.
What do you think of WP so far? The next update in early November should bring even more improvements to the UI.
Welcome back, King of anime bloggers!
I hope you post more. like the site
I’m glad to see you are still around. After all, your blog was the first one I actually read (and I wasn’t even watching that magic girl show you were blogging at the time) and is what made me start my own blog. WB! ^_^
Yay can’t wait for the new anime series
