Samurai Champloo 1
No screencaps for this one, but anyways... I had no idea what to expect when I watched because I haven't really looked around for info on this one. When I heard the opening rap I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch since I don't exactly care for it, but anyways. Turned out pretty interesting. Characters are all pretty cool and the voices fit for the most part. Animation is great, fighting is good. The music is mostly hip-hop type stuff.. Again, not something I really care for but I can put up with it. Geneon pre-licensed Samurai Champloo (last year, actually), I guess you could say, so don't expect any of the major subbing groups to take it on. Momotato has screencaps and a short clip showing off the nice animation.
Damn! Has someone subbed this yet? All I'm seeing are the raws.
Sigh. Should take some Japanese courses next year, time and money permitting.
Just finished watching the raw. Someone needs to sub this pronto because it looks so awesome! OP is not that good, though visuals were ok. Liked ED song, but not ED animation.
I didn't like the OP theme initially, but after listening to it a few times, it's grown on me. I really like the ED theme, however, and as simple as the ED animation is, the artwork is absolutely stunning.
As for the show itself, everything's peachy in the style department. Good direction, good aesthetics, good music (the hip-hop works), and cool character designs. The action sequences were a joy to watch.
I only hope that the production schedule and budget allows for the rest of the series to match the first episode in terms of quality.

OMG, if they went all Gainax on us with the production budget, I would cry =(.
Ah, Matthew, it seems that I have issues learning non-made-up languages. I can grok code pretty quickly, but get me in front of anything with verbs and tenses and I get confused...
