Mai-HiME 12

Back to Mai-HiME after taking a break for finals (hopefully you Mai-HiME fanatics will be satisfied now)... Randomness for now :)
Last time we left off with Sister Yukariko revealed as a HiME fighting one of those vampire mosters, though she'd rather not be. As for Mai, she's rather pissed off that no one will help her out in hunting the vampires down. Mashiro can't do anything, and Midori and Nao won't help out. And Natsuki's doing her own thing (as usual), investigating the church and getting knocked out by Miyu... However, Mashiro did put in a call to Yukino, who also turns out to be a HiME with some nifty surveillance abilites that allow her to see all that's going on... Things look to get somewhat interesting on the Tate-Mai-Reito front as Reito was spying on Tate and Mai as they were talking... And we finally hear about who's been moving behind the scenes... the organization that the priest was working for, the Searrs Foundation, an organization hoping to bring about an age of ORPHENS. Mai, Natsuki, and Mikoto fight against Miyu and her awesome cyborg powers, but even bringing out their CHILD they can't beat them... As for the priest.. well, the Searrs people weren't pleased and he got fired. Alyssa kowai~~~! She might seem cute, but Alyssa can be mighty scary..
As I said earlier, next time things might get interesting with Reito making a move on Mai it seems, guessing from the next ep preview. And Yukatas, too! Anyways, good stuff this time :) Back to the normal blogging schedule for Mai-HiME this week (either Thursday or Friday).

anyone want to take a guess to what exactly Yukino's CHILD is? So far, we've seen:
- dog (Natsuki)
- bird-thingie (Mai)
- horse/unicorn (Sister)
- frog (Akira)
- human-type (Nao)
- lion (Akane's?)
- Midori's... not exactly sure what "type" that is
I have no idea, lol. Looks like something that should be in a hentai with all those tentacles :P
Only thing I can think of is Octopus or Squid, but I don't think an Aquatic creature makes much sense.
Darn it, it's no fair that Alyssa's so evil, she's just too cute. ^_^
I'm actually thinking maybe it's a plant-type? I only say so because it lets out those spores-like thingies to be Yukino's "eyes."
Yea, Alyssa is pretty cute but her clothes? Man, makes her look like a little fattie >=D
@moyism:
I think your list needs some correction:
- Dhuran(Natsuki): wulf
- Kagutsuchi(Mai): dragon
- Jullya(Nao): spider
- Hurry(Akane): tiger
- Gakuteno(Midori): lion/scorpion mix, but has additional transform stages

Hey folks ... CUTE?? I mean, she's been giving me the chills when she sent Miyu against the Priest. And also before, in the refinery or whatever it was, she also gave me goosebumps. What about this is CUTE? :)
If anything, she's great because she's managing to creep me out.
Mentar: I haven't seen Ep. 12 yet so I haven't seen her be really evil so far.
Plant type would make a lot of sense, perhaps it's Kudzu, seeing as it grows insanely fast and seems to be everywhere. ^_^
I think the director is cute too (what is her name anyway?) but really have to wonder what a little girl's doing running a school...
Mashiro is the director's name btw. And who knows how old she actually is; she could be 20+ yrs old. We have Midori being "17" (or was it 18) when Mai asked... so... anything is possible ;)
hmm... me thinks I'll have to re-watch the scene where Alyssa goes "evil," cause for some reason I don't remember that at all.
Mashiro's character description on the site says she's 11 years old. Midori's 24.
Amusingly Mashiro acts older than Midori. ^_^
Hey, can anyone make out any of what Midori has written on that paper?
http://www.fencedude.com/Images/HiMEs2.jpg
I enlarged it and sharpened it up a bit...
The arrow is pointing to 祭 sai (festival). Then below that is 風華=封(dunno what the next character is) fuuka=fuu(I'm guessing it's probably read "ka"). The part on the bottom right seems like it'd be a name (that I can't read).
hmm... wonder if that means something BIG is going to happen in the next episode then?
okay, so I put together the little bits and pieces of what we know of the note:
http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/~moytoy/temp/midorinote.jpg
What I've gotten based on Matt & Garten:
- maybe something at upcoming(?) festival will change the whole HiME dynamics
- the HiMEs are the only ones keeping the balance between humans and Orphans
- OR one of the HiMEs will be the leader (support) for the whole group
- Midori X-ed out 13
- 12 is in red
Any other clues?
Okay, I'm *pretty* sure that the thing that equals "Fuuka"(from fuuka gakuen)is read "Fuuka" as well. I'm not sure exactly what the 2nd kanji is (damn your handwriting, MIdori) but it could be one of the following:
1. 封架
2. 封袈
3. 封賀 (but the 2nd kanji is usually read "ga")
4. 封駕
Notice the second kanji the top part is always "加". That's the clearest part of the kanji that was written.
All those second kanji have a reading of "ka" (among others but take note of 3). Together they don't seem to make much sense, but here's something: the first part "fuu" means to "seal" - it's used a lot as a term for "envelope" and that sort of thing.
Now notice that Midori was very interested in how Shiho's grandfather 'sealed' the Orphan in that episode... Also notice that when Alyssa and the Priest sent out the Orphan in that cake episode, they used this sort of envelope looking thing.
The term may make more sense once we figure out which one of the kanji it is.
1. 架 refers to some sort of structure or frame. (It's used in bookshelf, clothes rack, etc.)
2. 袈 is a kind of coarse fabric, perhaps clothes.
3. 賀 is usually read ga. It still does have an alternate reading of ka though, so it's still a candidate I suppose. It generally means congratulations and joy and that sort of thing.
4. 駕 seems to generally imply travelling on something (like a vehicle, carriage, palanquin, horse). I know in chinese it's used to mean "drive" as in "drive a car".
Based on Midori's Messy Handwriting and the meanings of the above candidates I suggest 1. So fuuka = fuuka... envelope frame? o_o;
By the way, Mashiro's last name Kazahana can also be read as Fuuka. Fumi's last name is Himeno.
Regarding the hashira onna thing, the 2nd kanji is almost certainly 姫 (hime). The 3rd kanji, I can recognize the right side but the left seems ambiguous. I'm 80% sure that it's 媛, though - which is a more obscure way of writing 姫. However, 姫 can be read as "ki" and "hime" while 姫 can be read as "en" and "hime".
I don't know how the hell 柱 (hashira) fits into all of this though. It can also be read as "chuu" but I doubt that's of any help. It means pillar/support so... Perhaps she is saying that one of the pillars has fallen?
As for the 2nd line before the english litterns "HiME", it seems like the katakana ヒメ(hime) just that the "me" was written rather hurriedly so it looks like the hiragana "ku". And the bottom line is ひめ - hime in hiragana. The "me" is written even more messily that I could barely recognize it (it looks more like the katakana me...). But I'm pretty sure it's those.
I think the whole thing is just there to confuse the hell out of all of us, though. :p
Yeah, probably so :P The fuuka might be 封架 since that's the name of the shrine where that festival's going be held next episode (according to the text preview on the Mai-HiME site), and also the place where Midori first showed up as a HiME in episode 6. Maybe.. but like it matters all that much ;)
Whaaaaaat? It matters a huuuuuge deal! ^_^
Hey, here's some more material for speculation: The official lyrics for Alyssa's song are up. Wonderful engrish!
"Who are those little girls in pain just trapped in castle of dark side of.. moon
Twelve of them shining bright in vain like flowers that blossom just once in years
They're dancing in shadow like whispers of love just dreaming of place where they're free as dove
They're never been allowed to love in this cursed cage
It's only the fairy tale they believe"
And since this is "crazy day", my far-out thought: The 12 girls aren't the HiMEs, they refer to their _children_
Have fun ;)
*trying to push this feedback section to 30*
argh! did you people see the epi 13 preview??
I hate reito!!!
Just thought I'd add that Mashiro constantly reminds me of Lumiere from Kiddy Grade.
The fabsub I saw claimed that the fuuka = fuuka note meant that she was trying to prove a relationship between fuuka the school name and the "land of fuuka" (re: mikoto's brother's whereabouts)
wait, I thought the "land of fuuka" was the same area where Fuuka Gakuen is located?
Mentar, their children? spanning TWO generations of HiME action huh? Or do you mean their CHILDs?
So much speculation, don't know which to believe or not!!!! XD
BTW, funny I read Mentar's lyrics for Alyssa's song as I'm currently listening to it right now. Strange huh?
