Mai-HiME 13
Midori finally shows up and talks with the others about all that's happened. Of course, Natsuki's got her own things to do... Midori thinks that there are 12 HiMEs, so with 8 known that leaves 4, or 3 if Alyssa is a HiME.
It's time for the 魂響祭り tamayura matsuri and all the girls are excited, but Mai doesn't know about it, of course. Supposedly, if you write the name of the person you like on a ribbon and tie it around the rail in the 水晶宮 suishouguu then you'll be tied together forever. Giving a ribbon with the name of a person you like to that person is an invitation to the festival. Reito asks Mai to go on a date with him.. she doesn't respond right then...
Tate and Shiho have their own worries about that kinda stuff.. Tate about Mai, of course, and Shiho about her "onii-chan" ("It's okay. If onii-chan wants to do that..." brought back memories of Koikaze....).
So the festival comes and Mai goes with Reito to it, and brings Mikoto. That isn't really a date, so Aoi and Chie lure Mikoto away with food to get Mai and Reito with just each other. Shiho's also dressed up for the occasion for her onii-chan ;) Mai and Reito end up talking.. but Shiho and Tate see them.. and just as Reito's about to kiss Mai, Tate screams out "Tokiha!!". Reito isn't pleased with it, and Shiho's pissed as well...
But an aurora-like thing appears in sky and suddenly something comes down and blows the heck out of the bridge over the lake. It's Alyssa's CHILD. Her and Miyu look over from a ridge, their target destroyed. So now it's time to notify the "Golden Fleet" (those ships, I'm guessing) to "open Valhalla's gate"
I'm in agreement with moyism here. Whoa :) Things just keep on picking up episode by episode now.. and now you've got the whole Mai-Reito-Tate thing and Alyssa blowing the heck outta stuff (that was a "OMGWTF is going on?" moment there). Exciting stuff there.. And I wonder what it is Natsuki saw... she saw "one f'ed up Akane", according to Momotato (I really must've not been paying attention. Must be the weird sleeping schedule I'm on now, lol)
Anyways, can't wait for next time. And please keep up the commenting as y'all did last episode (correct me if I've made mistakes or left something important out, okay?).

Only just started watching the ep (and the RAW I have seems a little low in quality), but something seems off with the art. I think something abouy Midori's face looks different, especially the eyes.
OK, haven't had time to watch 12 yet, but that one screenshot of Alyssa above definitely proves the scary part. o_O How can someone so outwardly cute and innocent be so evil?
Looks like we may find out what the ultimate plans of the opposition are next episode though, that should prove interesting. :)

hmm, now between yours and fencedude's blogs of Mai-HiME 13 I'll have a lot to work with when I go over the episode again.
Fencedude's take on the HiMEs is pretty cool, and I like the different classifications he came up with :)
Now with Matt's review, and clearing up a few things I didn't get (i.e. I'll never remember the numbers in japanese) there's a whole lot more speculation now than ever. Some random points I can off-handily think of:
- Alyssa's CHILD. As Matt has said, "OMGWTF." If her CHILD is some type of aurora, one has to wonder how the other HiMEs will stay a chance to even HIT it. Also, I guess Alyssa's "elemental weapon" would be her SSJ-like hair? It's the only thing that makes sense, since she went SSJ to call forth her CHILD or use any other powers she has shown previously
- Mai-Reito-Tate-Shiho relationship. OMG, that was just awesome! I was expecting Reito to bust Tate a good one for ruining the moment with Mai ;) Obiviously, there are some feelings between Tate and Mai that *will* get addressed hopefully soon. I want to see Shiho duke it out w/ Mai....
- I think Shiho has a good shot of being a HiME now. Why I say this? Well, my only real speculation is the fact the 6 capsule Mai-HiME figuers I got awhile back included Shizuru and Shiho. The other 4 were HiMEs (Mai, Natsuki, Midori, and Mikoto) so.... 'cause otherwise, it'll be weird they made non-HiME figures to sell?
- Question, what was Midori and Shiho's grandpa talking about? It seemed important as it sounded like the old man knew stuff about the HiMEs.
- Akane... well we all know she's totally f'ed up as Momotato nicely put it :D I'm guessing when we do get to see her, she'll be all a must and maybe hugging some dummy/doll that represent her ex-boyfriend. Pretty messed up that she's constantly re-living where she loses her ex-bf :(
- Possible pro-HiME teamup in the figure to fight against the SEARRS company? :D
But I still can't help thinking about the point Mentar constantly makes, why is it when there was that bath scene in ep 6 Shiho didn't have a particularly notable reaction when she saw Mai's and Mikoto's HiME marks? She should have had a "wtf you have that too" sort of look on her face and I doubt she's a good actor...
I still bet you it'll be Mai/Tate in the end, and I still hate Shiho :p

My thinking about why Shiho didn't have a "wtf you have that too" reaction is of two minds:
1. she's an really really good actor, or it's located on a part of her body that you don't see much O_O (yea, argument been made already)
2. are HiMEs born with the mark, or is that something we've been assuming? 'cause if not, then it might appear in the needs of an crisis (i.e. the Sister, but then again we don't know if she always had it or not). And if anything, looks like one can "hide" it (i.e. Yukino's we've NEVER seen until in ep 12).
If Shiho's mark was in the small of her back or something, she'd never see it.
going through Vol 01 of the manga, we have two more confirmed HiMEs:
- Youko Sagisawa
- Haruka Suzushiro
it's pretty cool how Akane has a more active role in the manga than in the anime, plus the dynamics of the HiMEs are slightly different than the anime. Tate having an active role is great too (so much comedy)! :D
That's also true. She may have never seen it. I suppose her mother never told her abou t it either.
And as for a possible HiME teamup - I believe it will happen in ep 15.

moyism: Well, the Zodiac-spread birthdays are a strong indicator which definitely help Shiho's HiME potential alot. Who knows, maybe she _is_ a latent HiME, just not awakened yet (like Mai when she boarded the ferry in ep1). Or, another speculation I heard from a friend, she'll be taken in by SEARRS and built up as an anti-HiME. This double-"Usotski" sounded pretty convincing to me.
Oh, and before I forget: Your hopes will be fulfulled. _Major_ HiME-teamup against SEARRS is scheduled for ep15 ^_^ ... I'm SO looking forward to that!

I had a thought on Alyssa, perhaps the aurora thing isn't her child, but another manifestation of her element. That'd make sense if her element isn't her hair (as some have thought) but light! Her hair always glows when she's doing something with her powers, so the aurora thing could just be a stronger version of that.
