Rozen Maiden 8 & 9

(screencaps from episode 8)

These two episodes tell the story of Souseiseki, Suiseiseki's twin sister (more twins!?). They haven't been on good terms since Souseiseki insists on staying with her "master", an old man who calls Souseiseki Kazuki, the name of his dead son. The old man's wife has been in a deep sleep ever since her son died...

Of course Suigintou shows up to cause some trouble along the way, so Shinku and the others have to come and help out, once again in that strange dream world of that old man.. The woman is dreaming of nothing.. just a white space with nothing but Kazuki in it.. Her feeling of wanting to stay somewhere where there are no hardships, no suffering, resembles someone.. Jun does get stronger through these episodes, even standing up to Suigintou to protect Suiseiseki. Things do eventually work out, with the woman waking up, Souseiseki and Suiseiseki getting back on good terms (and out of Jun's house for a while to make things a bit more quiet).

All in all, a nice story told these two episodes. We'll see where things go from here.(and btw, does anyone know how many episodes Rozen Maiden is scheduled to run?)

As far as I'm aware this series is set for a total of 13 episodes. Part of me wishes it could longer but an anime series is always best when it's short and sweet like this one. ;)

I definitely going to pick this one up when someone nabs the rights to the R1 release.

Ona side note, I'm looking for the cool bit of music from ep 9 were Suigintou attacks Jun & co. after getting out of the dream world.

I look forward to reading your next RM review. :)

Rozen is growing to be one of the best series I have seen this season, with each eps it just gets better and better. Well anyway about your question on the number of eps I did some research, according to the official webpage each DVD comes with 2 eps (kechi...>_<) but the packaging is really nice, the page has up to Vol 6 listed thats 12 eps. Lets hope its longer than that. Here is the page: www.tbs.co.jp/rozen-maiden/menu/info/dvd.html

Is this not the same scene as what occurs in Episode 6 after the fight with Sugin Tou?

To reply to my own question, I've read the scanslations done so far (up through Vol. 2, Chapter 2) and it is the same scene, although the story progresses differently in the Anime than the Manga.

Interestingly the Manga has mentioned how many dolls there are total in Rozen Maiden.

*maybe spoilerish*

that time, he fixed a usual doll, not a /Rozen Maiden/ :)

Ahh, very true, although I'm not surprised, the manga and anime both hint that he's someone very special when he fixes the first doll. (It's funny that it was Winnie the Pooh in the manga. ^_^) Shinku says something to the effect that only a Master can call back a lost soul. I figure that means Jun is actually capable of creating Rozen Maidens. :)

Now I just gotta hope BNC puts out more chapters soon, I'm hooked. ^_^ Dang it, I need to learn how to read Japanese. >_<
