Negima 9

First thing you'll notice is that the op has changed once again with another group of girls singing (it'll change every month). Negi-sensei gets shown around the school by the twins, Fuuka and Fumika, this time. The episode pulled mostly from chapter 13 in the manga, with changes, of course -- less ecchiness in general, and there's also the introduction of Setsuna, and a bit of talk between Eva and the headmaster that kinda sets up the Kyoto arc. But, anyways, fun to watch since the twins were in it (though not as fun as the manga). kawaii~~!! ;)
We're going back in the manga to the dodgeball game for next time. And next time is also when the Fafner crew are supposed to come on board, so let's be cautiously optimistic that the animation (probably not character designs for the most part) will be improved ;)
I sure hope the animation will improve.
I found the walking/flying scenes hard to watch. >_<
At least this episode adds a bit more into the story while taking out some of the manga elements. the tidbit on Setsuna is nice since that's not in the manga at all.
I hope fafner can improve the animation. Comparing to the major releases of Jan '05, the graphics in Negima has had been the biggest disappointment of all. (Xenosaga got gripes for character design). Oh well...

I was a bit confused about the whole 'going to the shrine' bit they introduced, but they didn't actually contradict anything major, at least..
Let's see now. Can I keep my fingers crossed for a whole week?

Weird, first time I clicked sign in I got a file not found, I think the server hiccupped. o_O
Speaking of character designs, I didn't really notice it before but from these screenshots the twins look their age in the anime, even though they are the same size as Negi. They're not as cute this way, although I do admit it's a bit weird to see 14yo girls looking like they're 10 in the manga. :)
Given that they're such big pranksters though their appearing younger makes their personalities work better. Bleah, yet more to dislike about the anime version so far. :(
Hmmmm uh judging by the image quality from the preview, there doesn't seem to be any substantial change in animation quality =( I suppose there is simply no fixing of the low budget nature of this show. I am still hoping to be surprised though.
I'm willing to wait till the next episode or two airs to pass judgement, some things I thought of that could apply here:
1. Fafner has upped the quality but the current studio had finished their ep. 10 animation and/or the next episode preview was considered part of delivering episode 9.
2. Fafner may need a few episodes to adjust and may have some existing work done by the original studio they end up using to get them into full production. Normally the studio prep time before the first episode is done is much longer than a month or so. :)
i'll ignore the art comments for the moment, enough has been said.
at the least, the story has been changed a bit from a individualistic perspective in the manga to a generalistic one in the anime so we get tidbits on the girls from time to time. guess that's the only way to make sure all the girls get screentime.
the episode was executed nicely storywise and the funny moments increased the depth of the characters. well anyways, nothing much too add there,only just the hope of better animation.
Setsuna's voice needs getting used to though and the twins' voice are really piercing(or maybe it's the raw :P).
