Tsukuyomi ~Moon Phase~ 25 (END)

Jeda's gone, Hazuki and Kouhei are back together, everybody's happy, the end.....

But not quite, as we get an actual epilogue episode. A new Marumidou has been built in the same place the old one was, and Kouhei, Hazuki, Gramps, Elfriede, and Haiji are back there. More of the usual antics with Hazuki getting pissed at Kouhei, Kouhei at her, etc. Rather light episode in general, except for loli princess Alto's appearance. Seiji found her after that last battle and has brought her back to Hazuki et. al., but she still won't be friendly with anyone... well, except Kouhei, since it is a full moon and she wants a bit of blood from him, which Hazuki will not allow ;) But it seems like Alto will fit in well there, falling asleep in Kouhei's lap after he tells her she won't be alone.. awwwwwwwwwww ;)

And so that's the last we'll hear of Neko Mimi Mode. Though definitely not the last we'll see of Neko Mimi, seeing how many shows have picked up on it ;) Animation was back to normal this episode, btw, thankfully. I assume the previous episode's errors will be corrected in the DVD release, in which case everything will be fine :)

I have enjoyed Tsukyomi for the most part, the animation issues really the only big thing keeping me from enjoying it more. But that's not to say all of the animation was bad, in fact, some of it stood out from the crowd quite a bit with a good sense of style and awesome battle scenes in a few episodes.

As for story, the earlier part of the show worked better than the last part, I think. Could've had a bit better second climax, I suppose... There were some serious-ish developments, but for the most part the serious-but-not-quite-so-serious atmosphere made things fun to watch. A cast of likeable characters also made Tsukuyomi interesting, with our nekomimi-wearing kawaii seductive vampire girl Hazuki standing out the most, of course, with Chiwa Saitou's excellent performance for the most part making that moreso ;) I have a new-found appreciation(?) for nekomimi after watching the show.. I guess ;)

All in all, while Tsukuyomi isn't the show I've enjoyed most this Fall/Winter season, it's something I'd say is worth watching for those who haven't done so. You've got to hear "Neko Mimi Mode" at least once, you know. You'll never get it out of your head. It's on the 電波ソング list, you know ;) I'll continue following the manga (up to 9 volumes released now) and report back when I read more of it, and see what kinds of differences there are.

Some recent news that I found about.

The 13th Japanese DVD set for Tsukuyomi, besides including episode 25, it also includes a never aired on television 26th episode.

A direct-to-home-release DVD episode.
