Gakuen Alice 26 (END)
Final exams are over and graduation comes, with Narumi giving the commencement speech. However, Mikan's more worried about Hotaru. There's talk that she's leaving to go overseas to study... One day her room ends up empty and that mail delivery turtle is back again, so she must've left. But... she actually wasn't going all that far. Only going to stay in her lab since she's going a presentation soon. Silly Mikan ;)
And so we end pretty much exactly how we began. I can't say I really liked the conclusion here, but since there were only 26 episodes there wasn't anything to be done about it, I suppose.
Gakuen Alice is one of those shows that could've been that much better (given the source material) given a better budget and more time, like last year's Twin Spica (cut short at 20 episodes). However, that doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy it. Mikan's certainly a likeable character and Hotaru is well.. Hotaru, with her own way of showing her love to Mikan ;) Natsume and Luca-pyon, the whole cast was an interesting bunch. Plot-wise, we had our ups and downs, with the threads about Natsume being most interesting to me. Wish they would've had more time to explore that among other things that weren't fully explained, but given that the manga's still in serialization and the episode count we got what we got.
Now, there has been talk of a 2nd season of Gakuen Alice, but nothing official has been said yet. With the events of this episode they've kinda broken the setting for the next major plot thread so I dunno where they'd pick up.... But we shall see about that.
Thanks to Garten for getting me all involved in watching and reading Gakuen Alice, and blogging it (much better than I have) along with me. When he gets around to it y'all go read his thoughts about the show. It's been fun :) I'm still going to read more of the manga as my budget permits (who knows when that'll be) so if there's interest I'll write about it. I'd definitely recommend reading it to the Japanese-capable out there ;)
Funny ending... it didn't matter to me if it didn't like in an apocalyptic, "We'll leave them there" scenario. Just as long as a "happily ever after" one, I'm happy. What I don't like about it though is (you're right) they should've dug deeper into Natsume, but he's just a major supporting character, not a central character like Mikan is.
But at least, we know that no matter how stoic Hotaru looks (her brother is the real stoic one), she has feelings for Mikan. And they really complement each other.
BTW, as a sidenote, Mikan and Hotaru are among the 12 teams in the fifth edition of my unwritten fanfic The Amazing Race to Heaven. As you might guess, it is entirely based on The Amazing Race. It is a long story, but you can e-mail me if you like.

The shows has been extended to 52 episodes, so 26 is not the end.
So now the show is 52 episodes and now 26 right? Just making sure 'cause the guys fansubbing Alice said there was a possibility at one point... but now anymore...

Gakuen Alice is one of my favorites.
Especially the tear jerking episodes,
such as the one about mr. bear and his creator.
But always almost very funny.
I want to know the history behind Mikans mother.
Isn't she Mr. Narumi's sweet heart?????
Who will Mikan choose Natsume or Luca-pyo???
My Favorite episode is the one with match girl Mikan and the one about Mr. bear.
I'll keep on supporting Gakuen Alice so I hope the rest of you do 2.
I think the Last episode was great!! I really liked it and I was screaming over Mikan and Natsume!! hahaha!! I think they really make a good couple... love!! Anyway, the last episode was sad.. But I liked it... a lot...
It's going up to 52?! *SHOCKED!!* Man I'd be depressed again if the good episodes (When Mikan and Natsumi fall in love) started coming around episode 49 {or close to the ending} than it all ends there just like how this season ended....I'd be heart broken *tear* lol.
alice academy is really cool. everyone at my cshool talks about it. mikan and natsume are so compatible.
