Today was the last day of classes at UGA. Had the written portion of the Japanese final today... I really hate the stupid questions that come from the dialogues in the book. All it's testing is how well you remember something you read and got the answers for 3 weeks ago, you're just spitting stuff back, it's ridiculous :P Why not test actual reading comprehension? Anyways... speaking portion is on Wednesday, which is just summarizing (otherwise known as "repeating") some of the readings in the textbook. Besides that one gripe, Sasaki-sensei's been a great teacher and a big help to me, especially last year as I was still working to understand some things, answering questions I had after class and such :) I have another exam on Wednesday before that in Asian-American Lit. that was supposed to be a short answer test but has now become a simple multiple-choice "Did you read stuff?" test, so that's no problem... and so I'll be done with this semester on Wednesday. Yay!

Speaking of Asian-American Lit., we've been doing presentations in there the past week. My group did a really stupid puppet show-ish thing on video, acting out one of the stories we read. I'm not one to like making an idiot of myself, so I just did the video editing and such. One group that went today talked about the influences of Japanese culture on us here in America, and elsewhere in the world, including manga and anime (I was going to suggest something like that to my group, but they had firmly decided to do the stupid video thing). Now that's something I could talk about for a very long time ;) And now...

IGN XBox 360 - Blue Dragon Revealed For the XBox 360

So Hironobu Sakaguchi's (Final Fantasy) teamed up with Akira Toriyama (DBZ, Dragon Quest) for this new RPG called Blue Dragon for the XBox 360 (it's more than 3!) by Sakaguchi's new company, Mistwalker. I still wonder why Japanese developers are jumping aboard the Microsoft bandwagon now given the absolutely abysmal (and I mean absymal) performance of the XBox in Japan (selling less than 500 units a week). Sakaguchi knows how to make good games so we'll see what he comes up with, though ;)

This has been the big local story around here the past few days. A bride-to-be was reported missing the day of her wedding, and was thought to have been kidnapped, but she had actually gotten cold feet and ran away all the way to New Mexico. Read the stories for more.. it seems like she premeditated it, buying a bus ticket beforehand, so that'd make charges more likely, it seems.
