Fushigiboshi no Futago Hime 12
Fine and Rain head off to the Seed Kingdom this time, and the first thing they do there is... not go to the castle, but look around at the itty bitty village. And almost destroy it ;) They notice a group of itty bitty residents doing some kind of rain dance. Fine says that it'd be better without rain... and the big tree, the Mother Tree, shines and Fine turns into a monkey. As Pumo says, it fits her much too well ;)
A group of monkeys comes running by, and one them grabs monkey Fine and takes her away. The king and his battalion come up after them, mistaking Rain for a monster (how could such a cute girl be a monster?), but the 11(!) princesses tell him who she really is. One of the princesses explains the situation: It hasn't rained in a while there, so the plants that grow in the summer can't be made by the Mother Tree. And since Fine said it'd be better without rain... the Mother Tree must've not liked that and turned her into a monkey. The monkeys are stealing food from the town and causing problems... But guess who's here to save Fine.. yes, Tio, the absolutely useless prince of the Flame Kingdom. He doesn't stay too long, however, falling off a ledge and getting stuck on a tree ;)
Meanwhile... Fine has her fill of food with the monkeys. The monkey boss tells her to come up and see him -- up high in a tree. But Fine... Faikki (monkeys make an "uki" sound in Japanese) can't climb very well.. she finally does make it up there and hears the situation from the boss. They haven't been able to gather fruit on Monkey Mountain recently because of the lack of rain, and the king won't give them any food, so they've been stealing from the village. Fine tells them to stop thinking just about themselves and talk things over with the king...
..but the king and his battalion arrive, ready to fight, so the monkeys fight back. They lock Fine up in a cage to keep her from causing problems.. Fine finally gets out and convinces the boss to stop fighting and talk with the king, but it's too late, as the monkeys' big weapon, a huge boulder has already been fired. Fine runs and saves the king... and Eclipse shows up, saving Rain. He can't have them die before he learns the secret of the Sun's Blessing. But they've still got a problem, as a boulder is about to fall on top of everybody... so it's Prominence time.. but Fine's still a monkey! She wants to use the power to help everyone, so the Mother Tree changes her back into the normal Fine, and it's Dress Up time! I'm guessing time stops during the whole "Fan-Fan-Fine!", "Ran-Ran-Rain" part here (^^;;;). A geyser of water shoots up, keeping the boulder aloft, and also making a lake.
So with that water the peoples' problems are solved, and the king and the monkey boss seem to have patched relations up. So it's time to go back to the Sun Kingdom... Fine spots Eclipse boarding his mount and runs toward him, grabbing on. The animal runs off, carrying Fine away with Eclipse... Uh-oh...
Monkey Fine this time was cute :) Suits her well as Pumo said... But I'm still waiting for an episode where Rain will get as much attention as Fine did this time... and what's with the kings of the other kingdoms besides the Sun Kingdom? They all seem to be rather incompetent (^^;;)
Next time it seems like Fine will get some quality time alone with Eclipse... why is she smiling so much here? Has she gone that much more head-over-heels for Eclipse? And why are Rain and Fine dressed in Prince Bright and Eclipse's clothes? Whatever happened must've been pretty interesting :)
As an aside here, I noticed two familiar names among those listed as having worked on this episode's 原画. Megumi Kadonosono and Hidefumi Kimura, character designer and director, respectively, of Uta~Kata :)
