How many of y'all followed directions this time and watched in a bright room away from your computer screen since Buchou told you to this time? Scary ;)

The Narutakisou gang packs up.. well, Momono gives Shiratori a huge heavy bag of something to haul.. they head to a park to enjoy the fall colors. They run into a bit of trouble all getting there -- Asami and Sayoko missed the train, then when they did get on one they missed their stop -- but they finally do arrive and are ready to have some fun. For Asami and Sayoko, fun is looking at all the money thrown into the fountain and wishing they could have it. Sayoko actually grabs some and tries to give it to Asami, but Asami made some kind of scary face -- would've liked to see that ;) And they also gathering nuts, putting them in the cardboard boxes they brought along. In Momono's case, "fun" means drinking.. a lot.. Johnny kept count: more than 21 cans, eventually emptying out the huge pack Shiratori lugged there. Thankfully, Kozue brought along something to eat, including umeboshi, of course.

After eating it's time for a game of tag. The rules used remind me of the "blob" game, where once you're tagged you hook up, but in this case you can break the chain and free people. Shiratori ends up being "it" first, and locates Kozue pretty easily after hiding along the side of a path. They join hands and start searching for the others after taking a bit of a break. And after a lot of running around it's time to go home...

On the way back everyone's asleep on the train except for Kozue and Shiratori. Shiratori talks about how much fun he's had since coming to Narutakisou as each of the seasons has passed... but Kozue wonders how much longer that'll last. Everyone's going to have to leave sooner or later.. But Shiratori tells her they'll be together forever.. Tamami wasn't quite asleep and was listening.. she has a very sad expression after hearing that.

Back at Narutakisou, another air mail is in the box for Momono. And a fax comes in for Haibara-san, informing him that he's been selected as a finalist in a novel writing competition...

So the signs of the Narutakisou residents picking up and moving out start to show themselves. And Shiratori and Kozue seem to be getting even closer. What Shiratori said to Kozue sounded more like a proposal than anything else to me, and it seems Tamami was thinking the same. Poor Tamami -- she's going to have to come to grips with things in these last few episodes. Since we're heading into the final stretch of the anime some changes were made to the manga material to fit things better -- the air mail for Momono and the fax to Haibara were added to further reinforce the feeling that things as they are might not last that much longer, it would seem. No complaints here :)

Next time, "suzu" ("bells"). The title should give you a hint as to what you should expect to find out...

hahaha...Tamami yelling "OH NO DESUUUU!!" was hysterical.

Matt, are you going to include in your writeup what the fax at the end said?

Is the manga ongoing or did it end and nine volumes?

I cracked when Shiratori learns he'll be the packmule for Asami and Sayoko. Esp when the two thank him.. Sayoko's thankyou was hilarious as was Shiratori's reaction!
