Anime Weekend Atlanta 2005
Yesterday (Saturday) I attended Anime Weekend Atlanta at the Cobb Galleria Centre/Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Atlanta with a couple of friends. I didn't take a whole lot of pictures, but here you go:

Some Tsubasa cosplayers. Saw more than a few Shaorans and Sakuras and Kuroganes and Fais (etc.) around there. Inuyasha and Naruto seemed to be the most popular shows for cosplayers around (I'm sorry I didn't get more pics of those).

With FFVII: Advent Children showing at the convention of course there were plenty of Clouds with huge buster swords and other characters from FFVII. Spotted a few characters from FFX as well.

The video game/anime band Select Start performed in the dealers' room, where I spent most of my time browsing the various wares on sale. Among the selections they played were Kakariko Village (Zelda series), Aira Di Mezzo Carattere (Final Fantasy VI), Tina's (Terra's) Theme (Final Fantasy VI), and the menu music from Super Smash Bros. Melee. And all very nicely done, too :)
Before the concert we mostly stayed in the dealers' room, but we did go to one of the video rooms to see the first episode Kamichu! (which they hadn't seen). Caught a bit of Bottle Fairies before it, the summer swimsuit episode to be exact. Kawaii~ :) I didn't bother going to any of the panels since there weren't really any interesting ones. Did catch some AMVs before heading to the Yoko Ishida concert. "The Internet Is For Porn" one was pretty funny :)

As part of the Geneon Anime Fusion Tour Yoko Ishida performed in the grand ballroom at 6:30 (song list from the program here). The first portion of the program consisted of theme songs from anime that Yoko has done, myself being most familiar with Open your mind and Sugar Baby Love. While Yoko was singing video from the particular anime or song pv played on the screen behind her. Yoko herself sounded mostly good (as best can be expected live) when I could hear her well. The music was turned up just a wee bit too loud (^^;;) The second set consisted of "Para para" (eurobeat-ish) mixes of various anime songs with some dancing to go along. Asu e no Brilliant Road with a eurobeat arrangement and Yoko singing was rather interesting ;) The autograph session for Yoko was today, though _| ̄|○
After the concert was over we had to head on back so I missed the costume contest (read Omni's report for more).

This is what I ended up getting from the dealers' room. The first volume of Aria and also a cute Mako (from Da Capo) figure. Plenty of other things I would've gotten (a CCS figure or two...) if I had the money, but I don't start my job until tomorrow :P
That's all I've got to report this time, my first at an anime convention actually. Not a whole lot to do (compared to bigger conventions), but it was still fun enough. I'll probably go back next year -- perhaps I'll see if I could get a media badge or something ;)

Small world. I was in the video room for Kamichu too.
Anyway, when I first read you were going to the con, I thought it might be interesting to see a panel on anime blogs... not that I'm suggesting anything.
