Da Capo Second Season 12

Alice is your quiet reserved ojou-sama type. Also quite cute :) As all y'all know, that would be my type (well, the quiet and reserved and cute part). As she rides to school she spots Jun'ichi and Aishia running to try to get there on time and ends up giving them a ride. Along the way we find out that Aishia and Alice are both from northern Europe. Aishia immediately takes a liking to Alice, so Aishia kinda invites herself to go over to visit her sometime, and Alice agrees (is that really a good idea given how destructive Aishia usually is?).... Nemu's working at the hospital Moe and Mako's family runs, and while walking around there with Moe comes upon a young girl all by herself. She's Madoka-chan, 5 years old, and is usually like that according to Moe. When Nemu goes to ask Madoka-chan why she's not playing with the other kids she runs away...

Nemu's back at home and, seemingly.. well... saying some very suggestive things -- see 3rd screencap above (^^;;) But no, she and Jun'ichi are not doing that, you pervert -- Jun'ichi's just giving her a backrub. Aishia pops up out of nowhere after Jun'ichi mentions that he'll take Nemu out to have cake -- they'll be going over to Alice's house for it... So Jun'ichi, Nemu, Aishia, and Mako meet up with Alice at the hospital the next day. While there Madoka-chan's refusing to eat and Moe's trying to calm her down. Alice notices a circus flyer in Madoka-chan's room and picks it up. It must be important to Madoka-chan since she tries to take it back, and in the process it rips.... They all eventually go over to Alice's for tea and cake. Seems Madoka-chan's been there for half a year, and since her parents are working overseas they never visit.. Aishia notices a photo of Alice in a leotard -- Alice used to be in a circus. Aishia gets a idea (uh-oh...) -- why don't she and Alice put on a circus show for Madoka-chan to make her happy? Aishia'll do her best!.... We know how that turns out (^^;;)

Aishia starts her training with tightrope walking, then ribbons, then juggling.. Not doing very well at all. Alice just watches, not really doing anything... Aishia mentions that she lost her parents when she was little so she can understand how Madoka-chan feels. Flashback: Alice stands all alone with a doll of some sorts.. after that Alice shows off her juggling skills and teaches Aishia how to do it properly... So they day of the circus comes and Alice and Aishia perform for the kids at the hospital, but most of all for Madoka-chan. Madoka-chan seems really happy seeing Alice and Aishia's performance -- Aishia's gotten pretty darn good, actually... When Madoka-chan sees a boy with his mother she remembers the time when she went with her parents to see the circus. The hat she wears was given to her by them then.. She runs off out of the room by herself...

Nemu notices that Madoka-chan's missing so she and the others split up to search for her. Madoka-chan's down by the ocean remembering her parents. A gust of wind comes by and blows her hat off onto a boat nearby so she gets on to retrieve it. Somehow to boat comes loose and floats off. Aishia and Alice are nearby and hear Madoka-chan screaming for help so they go into action. Alice could reach the boat if she just had a rope... Aishia uses her magic to try and conjure a rope -- but instead she gets a ribbon. Still good enough for Alice. Alice jumps down off the high cliff into the boat, picking up Madoka-chan. After tying the ribbon to the boat Alice quickly runs up the ribbon with Madoka-chan on her back. As she runs the ribbon starts to break, but thankfully Jun'ichi is there to grab on when it does break... When Madoka-chan saw Alice and Aishia it reminded her of her parents and she wanted to see them. Aishia thinks it's her fault, but Madoka-chan says that's not the case, that she really enjoyed Aishia and Alice's performance, showing us a very big cute smile :)

Back at the hospital a very excited sounding Madoka-chan talks with Alice as Jun'ichi and Aishia look on. Jun'ichi points out that Aishia's magic actually worked this time -- it actually made someone happy (without the bad effects of previous tries). And now Aishia's going to make Jun'ichi happy!

I'd be scared. At least Aishia finally did something with her magic without causing serious injury to people this time (^^;;)

Nothing to say big picture-wise this time in yet another Aishia episode. Was enjoyable at the least. I'm definitely an Alice fan now, and Madoka-chan was cute as well :) Though I would've preferred more Alice and explanation of her background... In the usual show of this type these individual character episodes would've centered on how the featured girl of the week interacted with the main guy character and tried to get his favor, but with DCSS that's not very possible with the established relationships. Everyone acknowledges Jun'ichi and Nemu as a couple, and because of that no one will really "make a move" on Jun'ichi, though they might have some feelings for him (Nanako or Kotori, for example). I doubt anybody would want to face Nemu's wrath, either (^^;;)

After next week we'll be halfway through the series so hopefully things will be picking up soon. While I do like these silly feel-good episodes, a dash of drama would be nice, so hopefully for my (and Mentar's) sake that'll happen. Perhaps with Sakura coming back soon? Next time looks like another Aishia episode so I would anticipate more silliness, but we shall see.

Where's the story again? Someone tell me? ^_^;;

This very much reminds me of the middle parts of DC first season which were literally unbearable. They aren't quite as bad here, but this is not what I watch anime for.

I guess the story will pick up again when we get into the (hopefully dramatic) final arc. Until then I'm outta here.

According to CDJapan Yukari Tamura is listed as one of the people on the DCSS Vocal Album Volume 1. Of course this isn't absolutely undeniable proof and CDJapan may have the wrong info up. Still if it is right only two reasons exist for including her.

1) She's voicing someone knew which is highly unlikely or...

2) She's going to be reprising the role of Sakura at some point in the near future.

Personally I'm predicting the return of Sakura within the next two to three episodes. Since I can't see her getting in the way of Nemu & Jun'ichi my money is on her ending up as Aisia's Magic Teacher at some point. In other words even if she returns nothing is probably going to change that much.

Still I agree with the others. As much as I like Aisia I am getting a little sick of the overindulgent focus on her. Whlle she's fine when it comes to carrying occasional episodes she simply can't carry the entire series.

Oh yes before I forget I should include the url to the page, http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=LACA-5438 , so people can see for themselves.
