The time for elections for student council president is near and it seems there's no one to challenge Ukaru Nishimura... until Matsuri decides that she's going to make Yurie student council president, with Mitsue helping of course. Yurie doesn't want to do it, but after Matsuri mentions that she could get a room for Kenji's Calligraphy Club Yurie gets a bit more motivated. Said Ukaru Nishimura is not pleased that Yurie's challenging him, and especially since people seem to treat Yurie differently since she's a god. Yurie runs into him after school and Matsuri pushes her into saying something to him.. but she can't and runs away.

Matsuri, Yurie, and Mitsue have a strategy meeting after school. Matsuri's planning for them to get up early and do some campaigning in front of the school. And it seems Ukaru would be a rather strict president, forbidding associations between guys and gals for one thing. Yurie seems ready to get serious about it... So in the morning they pass out flyers to the arriving students. The flyers themselves say stuff about Yurie changing the world and granting wishes, and even that the PM endorses her (^^;;) While having lunch on the room as usual Kenji comes down to grab one of his odd pieces of calligraphy that's blown away. Matsuri and Mitsue tease Yurie a bit as she hands it back to Kenji, saying that "someone" is going to get Kenji a room for his club soon, etc... While Yurie does her usual thing of hearing people's problems after school (with Miko's help this time) Matsuri dictates a speech to Mitsue. It's a bit overdone and doesn't really portray Yurie as she is...

Ukaru forces his way in to see Yurie, then tells her his problem. He wants to make the school into the best school there is, etc., etc., but somebody is getting in the way of him being president. She can't really grant that wish, of course, but Ukaru persists until Matsuri hits him with a nice chop to the head. Ouch... then she tells him to apologize and get out. Miko's very impressed with her sister :) As they head home, Yurie asks Mitsue it's a god's duty to always help out people who have problems. Mitsue responds that if people have their wishes granted they'd be happy and things would be easier, but... if that were always the case people would get lazy and not do a thing.

So the day of the election comes and it's time for Mitsue to give her Matsuri-written speech in support of Yurie. But when she goes up to speak Mitsue folds up Matsuri's speech and goes off on her own. Rather than portray Yurie as some all-powerful god as Matsuri wanted to, Mitsue talks about Yurie as she is. And it's not exactly flattering -- Yurie's clumsy, and forgets her homework, and not very reliable. But though she might be a god she's still a normal middle school kid -- 神様で中学生 as the title stands for -- and she does care for people though she might need help from time to time. The students seem to have loved the speech. Yurie goes to speak and when she bows her head hits the mike...

Skip to the next day.. Matsuri seems rather depressed. Yurie won the election but she didn't really do anything as president. No room for Kenji or anything.. and the school's turned into some kind of crazy candyland amusement park or something. Seems Yurie got so excited that she won that she used up all her power to make the school like that. She still is a kid, ain't she? (^^;;) Yurie's sleeping soundly at home as Ukaru becomes president and demands to Matsuri and Mitsue that they wake up Yurie and clean up (^^;;)

That's our Yurie! :) And exactly as expected from Matsuri as well, trying to use Yurie to her own purposes. You ain't supposed to do that to a friend, Matsuri :P Very enjoyable this time, just concentrating on the everyday middle school stuff instead of having a history lesson like last time. And there was plenty of cute Yurie to go around. She's especially cute when she gets nervous and starts sucking on her fingers. テラモエス! I don't believe there's anymore for me to say other than that.
