Petopeto-san 13 (END)

Skipping the OP this time, it's almost time for Petoko and Chochomaru to leave for Hakata to start work on Chochomaru's Imoten project. Shingo doesn't seem to be too happy, as could be expected. At the school everybody's getting ready for Petoko's farewell party... Petoko arrives and everybody comes to see her, asking her to send mail and stay in touch with them. Kiyomi says she's cheering her on, and Kanna comes by to first apologize for the bad things she said to Petoko a while back, and then to read a letter from her brother with her... Chie happens up Nuri, Chochomaru, and Petoko going over the top secret plan to get Kuguru and Shingo together. However, Petoko's mom seems she might have caught onto things after infiltrating their secret meeting last time.. but not really. However, the plan ends up not going quite as.. planned. Kuguru gives Shingo a big stack of her summer homework to do and marches off. Petoko talks to Kuguru outside -- if Shingo doesn't finish that work before 8 he won't be at Petoko's party. Kuguru then gives Petoko a nice talking to -- everybody's there because of her, for her sake, so Kuguru's not going to go with the plan. She tells Petoko to show some guts... Suddenly, those things that were over at Yuri-sensei's place head towards the school...

The bakedani (monster ticks) chase after Petoko and latch onto her, making her remember all the awful experiences she's had, eventually surrounding her. Shingo doesn't listen to Kiyomi's warnings and plunges into the swarm to help Petoko, being bitten by one and seeing some of Petoko's bad memories along with some of his own. As Petoko's about to be carried away Shingo shouts out for her not to go... and soon the swarm dissapates. Shingo finally says it -- he likes Petoko, all of her. He'll go whereever she is when times are tough for her. Awwwww :) He reaches out his hand to do the pinky promise, but Petoko jumps back.. right now if they touch they'd get stuck together.. so that would mean.? Yup, Petoko likes him as well :) The bakedani float up into the sky, making a brilliant trail of light. Petoko says sayonara to them...
The time shifts to fall at school. A postcard's come from Petoko. Shingo's got one from her as well. She's trying her best in Hakata taking dance lessons and such, and she's made good friends there as well. She really wants to see Shingo again..
Awwwww, how sweet :) And a fitting happy ending for Petopeto-san as well. Overall, I've enjoyed watching Petopeto-san, first of all for all the kawaii characters in it by Yug. Petoko herself is a very likeable sweet character -- Kana Ueda doing her Kansai accent is always a good thing :) Chiwa did a good job as usual as Chie :) Nothing to really complain about as far as characters... storywise, well, some things weren't quite explained or delved into in-depth as I might have liked, but that's one of the limitations of a 13 episode show. Though there were some moments to top off each of the 3 major story lines of the show -- Chochomaru and Kuguru making up, Kanna changing her views of things, and Petoko and Shingo finally realizing they're for each other. It was at least interesting enough to make me want to read the novels (which I'll probably be doing soon...). I did have some worries about animation with Xebec (we all know about that), but things didn't turn out that badly. Neither extremely good, nor bad, just decent, and that's good enough for me :) That would pretty much be my feelings for the show as a whole -- not extremely good or really bad, just average, but it was enough for me to enjoy these past weeks with Petoko and the others.
