Fushigiboshi no Futago Hime 37

Entry number 1000 goes (rightfully) to Futago Hime. Only took 675 days to get here ;)
Anyways, while riding the balloon back to the Sun Kingdom, Fine and Rain get things started off this time with the hayaku (hurry up) dance, wanting to see Princess Grace as quickly as possible to ask about their new powers as Eternal Solar Princesses. Altessa tells them to calm down.. but they might find out something about Bright. So Altessa joins Fine and Rain in the hayaku dance, causing Pumo to lose control of the balloon. Crash landing, as usual (^^;;) However, as soon as Fine and Rain go off to see Princess Grace they bump into someone.. it's the nonsense-singing bard, Naginyo -- he says he has something to talk to them about...
Turns out that Princess Grace has had him keep an eye on Fine and Rain. They can't believe it -- neither can I :P But he's got the seals of all the Kingdoms his harp/clothes/earrings/etc, so he must be the real thing, believe it or not. Fine and Rain can't see Princess Grace right now since she used up most of her power to level Fine and Rain up to Eternal Solar Princesses. Fine and Rain can't do anything about it, even though they're Eternal Solar Princesses since their power isn't yet complete. However, if they gain the power of the dragonballs Grace Stones in each Kingdom they can gain the power to save the Mysterious Planet. Grace Stones? Long ago, a Black Crystal brought the power of darkness to the Mysterious Planet, a very powerful item with the power to bring out the despair in peoples' hearts. Princess Grace sealed it (along with Bumo) away, but the (former) Chancellor of the Moon Kingdom broke the seal, bringing back the power of the Black Crystal. So that's why Bright went over to the dark side... at just the smallest chance the power of darkness might take over a person since a bit exists in everyone. So that's why Princess Grace told Fine and Rain to help people smile, giving them hope. Fine and Rain proceed to do the nikoniko (smile) dance, forcing a smile on Pumo and Altessa. Altessa and Pumo join in soon enough, though. Now they're ready to go! ;) Meanwhile... Bumo has been keeping an eye on them all. If Bright can gain the power of the Grace Stones he'll be able to gain even more power....
Fine and Rain ask their parents about the Grace Stones... however, they haven't heard of it. But Altessa's got a idea of where one might be. They all go to the Jewel Kingdom, and there Altessa asks her parents to allow her to give the Grace Stone to Fine and Rain. Their reply -- no, especially not to princesses of the Sun Kingdom.

「ファインとレインは私のお友達よ!」
Fain to Rein wa watashi no o-tomodachi yo! (Fine and Rain are my friends!)
I believe that's the first time we've heard that from Altessa. Nicely said ;) Even so, seems Bright has been up to his usual lies, convincing the king and queen that the Sun Kingdom is up to no good. Fine and Rain get kicked out....

Fine and Rain get all depressed over not being able to do a thing, but Altessa tells them to keep their spirits up, climbing out of the castle on a not exactly secure rope made of sheets -- Shade is there to catch her, though. And Tio's tagging along as usual. They all go to search for the Grace Stone that Altessa used to decorate a doll she had when she was little. She buried it near a tree somewhere, so they all get to digging away. Shade finds a tree with a mark, and there a box is buried, and inside the box is an Altessa figure with a stone on the crown. Suddenly, Bright's boomerang comes and takes the figure away along with the stone. He and Bumo are there to cause trouble as usual, this time using the power of the dark prominence to call forth some rather scary dark knights of some sort. It's time for Fine and Rain to do their thing... so the transformation is a two-stage one -- they transform into the old blue/pink dresses first, then change into the Eternal Solar Princess dresses. The power of the Prominence gets rid of the dark knights, so Bumo and Bright make a hasty retreat.
But they got away with the Grace Stone.. or did they? Altessa actually put the Grace Stone on Bright's doll, which she put in another box and buried near another tree. Bright seems to have completely forgotten that... but where could it be? Fortulette time... on a tree stump, it points nowhere. So it must be buried right there.. Tio digs away like a dog (even though he's a lion...) and there it is. Fine puts the Grace Stone in a compact that Naginyo gave to store them in that Rain's carrying. Tio's very happy that Shade praised him for actually being useful for once ;)
Fine, Rain, Altessa, and Pumo head out on the airship again. Altessa looks at the dolls of her and Bright dancing together... will she be able to dance with him again like that one day? Fine and Rain say it'll happen some way or another.. Altessa's not satisfied with that answer -- she brings out some books, Camelot-style, ready to give Fine and Rain a bit of training.. iyaiyaiya~!
Altessa just had to go back to her scary ways as usual :P Despite that, she's been gaining points with me for quite a while now, and her finally saying that Fine and Rain are her friends added some more. Her parents.. heck, all of the kings and queens and politicians of the Mysterious Planet (except for Toluse and Elza of the Sun Kingdom) seem to be totally incompetent, so easily fooled by Bright. It makes one wonder how the Mysterious Planet managed to survive for so long with such bad governance (^^;;;)
Putting that away for now.... as expected, Naginyo turns out to be more than the comic relief we thought he was. Though still out there :P Looks like we'll be visiting all of the kingdoms at least one more time as Fine and Rain and Altessa journey in search of the dragonballs Grace Stones in each. Next time they'll be heading to the Windmill Kingdom, which means we should be able to see the hilarious comic duo of Sophie x Altessa some more. And Auraa too for the ladies out there that like him ;)
And as an aside, yes, the animation and such this time wasn't exactly the best or anything, but I'm trying to not concern myself too much with it. As I said before, so long as it's mostly cute it's okay with me, even if a cut or two isn't exactly on. 52 episode Saturday morning kids' show heading into the last stretch, can't have too great expectations of it, you know :P Though you bet I will complain if Miruro doesn't look cute when she shows up again ;) Speaking of Miruro... Ixy over at ShiBoo通信 has done a couple of cute Miruro pictures the past few days, along with Sophie and Altessa and Leonne. Ixy also says that Miruro in the Futago Hime Character Detail Book that HLJ has yet to get in is very cute. Dang it, I want it now! ;)

The dark knights appear to be a cheap rip off of the white knights in Rockman.EXE Stream 51. That's where Netto and the other cross-fuse to delete the robots (Yes... I was thinking to myself about Fine and Rain cross-fusing too.)
The legend of the Black Stone is almost like Rockman.EXE 4th Game where a meteor comes and tries to destroy earth. I think they might end up battling the spirit inside the black crystal. It shouldn't be natural.
uwa~ ^^ this series gets ever more cliched-... er i mean cute! lol
i've seen the manga volume 1 around plenty of times... i myself am trying to deceide whether or not i should buy it ^^; what are your opinions? :o i think i might but from what i've seen its not as "cute" as the anime ;___; so i'm a lil afraid XD;;
<3 Mae-chan
I totally want to see the manga I can only find like 3 pics ^-^"
"It makes one wonder how the Mysterious Planet managed to survive for so long with such bad governance"
My theory on the whole thing is that each of the kingdoms has been (mostly) operating in isolation until recently. But now the kingdoms are trying to have more interaction with each other (perhaps influenced by Princess Grace?), and the Princess Parties are a part of that.
I could be completely wrong on this, but that's just my interpretation.
I like Fine more then her sister
I knew it! Nagi-sama had something to do with Grace! Cuz, on the episode where Grce levels them up to Fortune Princess, Nagi-sama is siting in a tree when time is stopped...but it doesn't effect him!
