Sunday Notes...

Now though 9 episodes of Narue no Sekai and pretty much enjoying all of it. I won't repeat my comments from the other day here. Went back and listened to the seiyuu commentary for a few episodes -- pretty funny stuff, usually ;) Anyways, what should have been up yesterday will go up today sometime.

New Negima! Anime?!

source

Paniponi-style Negima!, anyone? SHAFT and director Akiyuki Shinbou will be producing a new Negima anime with quite different character designs as y'all can see (Eva look like Becky to anybody?). BUT, and this is a big but, this is NOT a second season, rather 2 OVA-ish episodes that will be shown only at Negima events this spring and summer. The "Spring version" and "Summer version" both seem to be original stories separate from the manga. Well, should be quite interesting :)...but it would be even better if this were something of a trial run and they really were going to make a new Negima TV anime :P

ADV Acquires This Ugly Yet Beautiful World

AnimeOnDVD has the report from the New York Comic Con. Take note that it's YET, not AND. See cap above for why it was AND to us when it was on :P With this, most of what was on in the spring season of 2004 is licensed now (if I remember correctly)... save for Aishiteru ze Baby.

ARIA The Natural
MOON PHASE has some more info on the second season of ARIA, called ARIA The Natural. Yui Makino will be back to do the OP, and Choro Club will be back to do the ED and the music for the show. The show starts April 2nd at 25:00 on TV Tokyo.

Regarding the new Negima, I cant wait for this. It looks much better... except for Setsuna. WHY MUST THEY ALWAYS MESS UP MY FAVORITE CHARACTER?! (aka Motoko). Still good news for Kentakus, though... and I read that they're re-releasing the first few episodes of Negima with better animation because everyone knows: It sucked A LOT.

They've already re-released the first few episodes of Negima with better animation - pretty much every single episode on the DVD release had some animation work done to it. I didn't watch the broadcast version, but the show looked half-decent in terms on animation on DVD (though I still don't like the character design, particularly the choice of colour pallette).

They screwed up Asuna's eye color... again. But, on the upside, the characters sorta resemble their manga counterparts - Makie and Konoka appear pretty close to the wa they should be, and Setsuna looks JUST a little odd... but at least she doesn't look like everyone else with slightly different hair.

It's a start, even if Evangeline looks nothing like herself. And, being honest... could they do any worse than Xebec?

There is a reason why This Ugly and Beautiful World took so long to get licensed - it is a highly mediocre show. The only positive aspect of it is Akari, which isn't much.
