Fushigiboshi no Futago Hime 48

All of the castle workers from the Sun Kingdom are in the Moon Kingdom castle, and they're all crying. The queen and king, along with Princess Milky, try to cheer them up but it's no use. After being so happy at the end of the last episode, Fine, Rein, Altessa, and Bumo finally seem to realize what a predicament they're in and are appropriately gloomy. But they're got to smile.. even if it's forced (ouch..). Altessa wonders if Bright knows that everybody's so sad now.. they ask Pumo to take them to the Sun Kingdom to go see him, and he agrees...
Meanwhile, in the Sun Kingdom, Bright's going to make everyone realize that he's king of the Mysterious Planet now. He'll use the power of the Grace Stones to make the Black Crystal even more powerful... however, instead of giving him power the Grace Stones suck power from him. Omendo watches then rushes to a control panel for the Sun's Blessing in the library -- turns out that he pretended to betray his kingdom to stay behind and keep watch over the Sun's Blessing. However, Bright now realizes that and comes to get rid of him. Omendo tosses books at Bright and Bumo, and makes a direct hit with one on Bumo. But Bumo seems to have found something in that book -- the location of the last Grace Stone. Omendo grabs the book, but Bright forces him out a window. Thankfully, Fine and Rein arrive just in time to stop his fall.
Omendo explains what's been going on and gives them the book... it's the diary of the Sun Kingdom princess of 100 years ago. How wonderful, Pumo says. Fine and Rein kept a diary once -- for three days. Turns out that the princess 100 years ago only kept the diary for that long as well... it must be in the genes as Pumo says (^^;;) Altessa opens the diary and reads...

Today I went swimming at Coral Beach. Keeping it a secret from mom and dad, I brought along a piece of decor with one of Grace's treasures on it.

But before I realized it, the treasure had fallen into the ocean. Oh no, oh no!

But if nobody finds out it'll be okay.
...sounds like a couple of somebodies we know, as Altessa says. Has to be in the genes (^^;;)
In the Sea Kingdom everybody's crying as the people from the Sun Kingdom were. Bright arrives to speak to Princess Pearl... Back in the Sun Kingdom, Camelot and Lulu arrive to take Omendo away, and Fine, Rein, Altessa, and Pumo telepumotion to the Sea Kingdom. Of course they end up in the ocean (^^;;)

Thankfully, Captain Peggy comes by in his submarine and picks them up. He tells them that Bright's already there, and that Pearl-chan's gone out searching for the Grace Stone. Very nice Pearl-chan impression there, Peggy ;) All of the animals in the ocean are pretty sad, so Fine and Rein try to cheer them up with the genki dance. Peggy asks if dances like that are popular on the surface. No, that's just them (^^;;) Meanwhile, Pearl-chan and Bumo search for the final Grace Stone. Bumo gets a bit of a shock from a jellyfish Pearl-chan was trying to cheer up. When she comes close to him and shows him her smile... *cue the music* It's gotta be love~ (why is Naginyo there?)... Bumo then finds out it's pretty dangerous to be with Pearl-chan. He tries to get her to stop and go back by handing her once of the Grace Stones he's carrying, but she presses on as Bumo gets eaten by a shark and goes to an underground volcano among other things....
Pearl-chan and Bumo return to the Sea Kingdom castle without the last Grace Stone. Bright takes things into his own hands and summons his dark knights to search the area, ripping up coral in the process. Pearl-chan begs for them to stop and grabs on to one of them... seeing Pearl-chan in danger, Bumo protects her and stands up to Bright. The flower on Bumo's cap turns from black to the same color as Pumo's as he confesses his love for Pearl-chan. Bright's left with no one now... Bumo protects Pearl-chan as the dark knights approach. Fine and Rein arrive just in time, but the knights hammer away at the submarine as they try to transform... Isn't that a violation of mahou shoujo rules? You're not supposed to attack while a mahou shoujo transforms ;) Shade shows up in a diving suit (still wearing his hat) and gets rid of the knight that was hammering away, giving Fine and Rein time to transform and use the prominence to get rid of the dark knights. However, the Grace Stones that Pearl-chan's carrying suck away their power. Apparently if you don't have all of them the effect is reversed...
So now with that resolved Pearl-chan's going to search for the last Grace Stone with everybody's help. Bumo wants to go along with her, too. Fine, Rein, Altessa, and Pumo are just a bit surprised at this turn of events. Bumo's gone completely deredere (lovey-dovey) for Pearl-chan... Meanwhile, back in the Sun Kingdom, Bright is all alone, and he sits on his throne and laughs....
...and he's completely lost it now. Can't call his condition anything other than sad now that there's no one there with him. Quite an unexpected turn of events here with Bumo betraying Bright, yes? So Bumo goes from not seeming like he could be all that evil, to really being evil, to turning good because of the power of love. Him and Pearl-chan are a rather... odd couple, but "whatever floats your boat" as one of my high school band directors always said ;)
Anyways, the best part this time was definitely the diary of the Sun Kingdom princess from 100 years ago. terakawaisu!, to say the least :) Easy to see why Fine and Rein are like they are now... quite something for them to be the most un-princess-like princesses in the history of the Mysterious Planet when the previous princesses were all that way (^^;;) Makes one wonder what Elza and Princess Grace were like when they were younger... maybe it's something they grow out of.. hopefully.
Next time, is Bright going to turn away from the darkness with Rein's help? Shows up as his old self in the preview, but we'll see.

Miruro's going to be showing up next time, too ;)
And in other Futago Hime-related news... Yuuko Gotou (Rein) posted on her blog that recording for Futago Hime has wrapped up. She also mentioned that recording for Futago Hime Gyu! is coming up quickly, and that it'll be even more lively with all of the characters we know returning and some new characters to be added. Looking forward to it :)

Forget Maho-Shoujo rules! It's all about breaking the rules. If the knights destroy the submarine before Fine and Rein transforms, he'll be successful.
"the best part this time was definitely the diary of the Sun Kingdom princess from 100 years ago."
I have to agree with you there. What's really amusing, though, is reading the page before the one about the beach: "I was going to help Miss Camelot today. First of all, I started from the cleaning of the room." Just how old is Camelot, anyway?
But I've been saying it ever since Bright turned evil, the power of love is going to win the day. I just didn't expect it to work on Bumo. Talk about unexpected twist! Although if Bumo is the one who turned Bright evil in the first place, will he change Bright back now that he's on the side of good? Hm....
Yeah, that jerk Bumo. If he'd done it another way, he might've helped, but now he's just made Bright all bitter and angry.
