Sasami Mahou Shoujo Club 11

Itoki tells Washu and Daimon about an upcoming mahou shoujo tournament that's going to be held in the witches' world. Itoki is all over Daimon as usual (^^;) And as usual, Itoki and Washu start fighting. Itoki ends up in the trash heap outside... Washu seems to be ready to go at winning that tournament.
Washu tells the girls about the mahou shoujo tournament the next day, and of course they're excited about, not the least because they'll be going back to the witches' world. Sasami'll see Ami-chan again, and Makoto will meet those mahou shounen she's been trading e-mails with. Seems like all want to do their best to try and win, making Washu quite happy.
Sasami still isn't home as the sun sets. Her father reads the newspaper while waiting -- a report about a boy with super powers comes on the TV. The boy floats off the ground... must be a mahou shounen. There's a report in the paper about 5 kids with the same kinds of powers in America, too. Looks like the secret's out... Sasami's already worn out when she comes home, so her father carries her to bed. Sasami says "Ami-chan" in her sleep, making her father stop right there -- it couldn't be...
The next day, Washu has the girls run around the track. Seems it's too much for Tsukasa and everybody else besides Sasami and Misao. Sasami tells everybody to follow Misao's example and try their best... after that, Misao heads to class -- she steps in when Monta is talking with others about the news of the kids with those strange powers. He doesn't think it's possible. But what if it is? It makes him feel sick.... poor Misao-chan 。゜・(ノД`)・゜・。
At the meeting of the mahou shoujo club that afternoon, there's zero enthusiasm about the mahou shoujo tournament. Makoto thinks Sasami's getting annoying. Tsukasa likes magic, but she likes sleep more (yup, definitely something Tsukasa-sama would say). Makoto's had enough of it, and so has Anri and Tsukasa, and even Misao gets up and leaves...

Sasami thinks about what happened while taking a bath that night. She can do it even on her own... She's more hyper than usual the next morning, ready to go. Makoto, Misao, Tsukasa, and Anri all do their own thing, with only Sasami showing up for practice at the mahou shoujo club. She can't go to the mahou shoujo tournament on her own though, they have to have a team...
As Misao's walking home from school, she runs into Monta. He notices that she seems to be rather gloomy. Misao says that she's always been that way, but Monta says that she seems happy when she's with Sasami. After he leaves, Misao looks at her friendship ring...
When Sasami arrives home her dad isn't there, off on a trip. His editor is there though, with the manuscript that he wrote for her, but in readable format now. She reads it in her room -- it's a story about five girls who are mages who aren't so good at using magic now, but they don't give up. One day, the elder of the forest asked them a question -- what's the best thing that happened after you learned you could use magic? The next page is blank.... Sasami thinks about her answer to that question -- there's Ami-chan, then being praised by everybody after flying on her broom, then playing together with everybody in the witches' world, then the rings with everybody, and... she realizes the answer -- becoming friends with everyone.
Sasami understands why she wanted to try so hard, even alone -- if she gave up then everybody she likes there in the mahou shoujo club would go away, and she doesn't want that. As she arrives at the school gate, a teacher is telling Makoto to take off her ring, but Makoto won't do it. She goes over to Sasami and takes her away, saying she's got something to talk about. Makoto apologizes for what she said the other day. It was really boring skipping the mahou shoujo club. Tsukasa and Anri are there as well and agree with Makoto. Misao, too. Looks like they're going to try and work together to win the mahou shoujo tournament now :)
While everybody else practices, Misao tells Sasami that she wants to be able to come to like herself as a mahou shoujo. She's thinking of telling Monta that she's a mahou shoujo... Sasami's dad rides the train to the witches' world -- "Wait, I'll save you right away"...
So who is Sasami's dad talking about? He seems to know something about Ami-chan, so could it be him? Hmmm... and now that it looks like the fact that mahou shoujo/shounen is out now what are the witches and the kataribe going to do? Anyways, quite a nice story again this time showing how important friendship (one of the big mahou shoujo themes) is to Sasami and the others. Animation wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be, with only a few scenes that stood out as being not so great. Of course they put the most effort into the bath scene, go figure ;)
Next time, it looks like the first of a two-parter to finish things up as the girls head to the witches' world to take part in the mahou shoujo tournament. Is Misao going to tell Monta that she's a mahou shoujo? That's breaking the first rule of mahou shoujo about not telling or even letting anybody have any clue that you're a mahou shoujo there (^^;)... though Fine and Rein in Futago Hime break it all the time, but anyways ;)
