Fushigiboshi no Futago Hime Gyu! 24

Fine and Rein are going to be late to school, as usual, so they run at full speed, almost hitting a girl, but thankfully, Fine was able to do quite a jump over her. The girl, Torowa, princess of the Step Planet (another quite inventive name there...), was very impressed with Fine's display of physical ability, so she wants Fine to be her partner in the upcoming dance contest. Last year, Team Wonder (looking very much like that Wonder 5 group that sings the ED) won the contest, so she absolutely wants to win this year. After that, she trained and trained and trained more, but her teacher said that something very important was missing from her dance, but she didn't say what it was. Torowa knows what that is, however -- the signature move of her teacher, the maboroshi no oowaza puribaua.
Rein tells Altessa, Leonne, and Chiffon about Fine's entry into the dance contest. Chiffon calculates their chances of winning at 0.3% (^^;;) Rein runs off, ready to get some footage of Fine and Torowa practicing for the news... perhaps that wasn't such a good idea, though, as the practice Torowa is making Fine do is rather ridiculous -- jumping from moving platform to moving platform high off the ground, running 100km in a day, climbing walls, tightrope walking, or jumping through these cutouts of positions or whatever. And on top of that, no more eating all the food she wants for Fine. Fine is out of it by the end of the day... Poor Fine (^^;;)
Fine ends up sleeping until noon the next day, late for practice with Torowa. Torowa's in a rather dark mood when they arrive -- she thinks that Fine's going to quit since this is exactly what happened when her previous partners quit because her practice regimen was too rough. But Fine's not going to quit since she promised to win together with Torowa -- it's fun, too (que the instrumental version of the 1st season 1st ED... very nice song). Fine suggests they practice outside since it's a really nice day. Fine takes Torowa up to a place with a very nice view of a lake since she thought it'd be more fun to practice there -- they're going to do it!

Torowa and Fine are in perfect sync with each other as they run and jump and tumble. Even Fine says she wants to practice more instead of taking a break... but of course, Edward won't let such fun things happen. This time, his target is a repairman that looks as if he was pulled right out of Lupin the 3rd. The guy Edward is in control of introduces himself to Torowa and Fine as the legendary master dancer, Nasbinsky, saying he can help Fine and Torowa perfect the puribauaa with some special training... that training is mathematics, cooking, squeezing water out of cloths, and other things that are rather hard to connect with dancing (^^;;) After all of that, Fine and Torowa try the puribaua, but they end up crashing into each other instead. The fake Nasbinsky says they have no chance of doing it, and Torowa runs off crying...
Fine and Rein go to see Torowa, but she's pulling a Nevilile, locked up in her room and not responding at all. Has Edward succeeded this time? Fine and Rein aren't going to give up, though. The next day Fine is there practicing some spins, with Rein there counting, when Torowa walks by. Fine was doing all of that because she promised Torowa she'd be in the contest together with her. Even though they might not win, it'll still be fun to dance for everyone -- Fine's had a lot of fun practicing together with Torowa already. Torowa seems to realize what her teacher said she was missing.. Edward can't let this go on, so it's the usual, and Fine and Rein get rid of his monsters as usual.
Torowa realizes what she was missing now. She used to think of only winning, not trying to have fun dancing or anything, but thanks to Fine she's realized how much she likes to dance. She's going to do her best with Fine in the contest and enjoy it, too :) That night Fine and Rein go to what's said to be a wishing well in the city, writing their wishes on cards and dropping them in -- they wish that the dance contest will be fun for everyone...
...and we'll have to wait until next time to see how the dance contest turns out. For some reason, I couldn't help but be reminded of Kaleido Star (Jun'ichi Satou is the creator of Kaleido Star, director of Futago Hime) watching this episode, though it was a bit more comedic with the ridiculous training and such ;)
They probably could've condensed things down to fit into one episode, but I don't mind the 2 part story for this one since Torowa and Fine were really, really cute this time :) We've got tet another sub-character added this time with Torowa, and like the others she's only good at one thing and we probably won't see much of her later on, but she's a fun character, and really cute (didn't I say that already?). Fine was at her best this time, too, that smile of hers very good though she had to go through all of that. I imagine her having to eat less was the hardest to deal with ;) And Edward... try possessing one of the regulars instead of some random unknown one :P He did succeed in part this time in hurting Torowa, but still, not exactly a very devious plan. He's turning into a joke like Toma did, but I suppose that's okay since it's good for a laugh or two ;)
Next time, the dance contest. Edward's going to do his best to interfere this time... though I doubt it'll work. I see the scriptwriter for next time is Natsuko Takahashi, so it'll probably be as usual for her...
In other Futago Hime things.. there's going to be a second Futago Hime Detail book coming out next month, with summaries for the last half of the first season, more interviews with the staff, and some stuff on Gyu! as well. Definitely getting it :) It would also seem like the ED is going to change once we start the 3rd quarter of show, but it looks like it'll be a Wonder 5 song again... oh well. Wonder if Keiji Goto will be doing the storyboard again... I would think the OP would change as well since there's got to be something about that new character that'll be showing up in episode 28 in there.

バレエ練習時の「Un, deux, trois...(One, two, three...)」
