Fushigiboshi no Futago Hime Gyu! 31
Tauri and Kalori are going on a date!? (duh, they're a couple) Just going out to eat something, that's all, Kalori says. With the mention of a date Rein-chan goes off into her own little world again fantasizing about her Bright-sama... there's no saving her once she goes there (^^;;) Chiffon-chan suggests that if she wants to go on a date with Bright then Happy Park is the place for couples. There's a fountain in the park that people throw their wishes into.. One of Leonne's senpais got a boyfriend after she wished -- for a second I was surprised and thought Leonne had said that she had gotten a boyfriend (^^;;) Altessa's got a charm filled with the heart-shaped sand in the fountain.. for what? We know ;) Of course, hearing that, Rein wants to go to Happy Park...
But Ed-chin has been listening in on everything -- Bibin'll probably be happy to hear his report and get really pissed off. mu-ka-tsu-ku. Yup, she's pissed off and plants an unhappy seed in the fountain just before Fine and Rein come. Fine wishes for yummy food, as you'd expect. All of a sudden, a big dump truck backs in and starts unloading coins into the fountain. It's Elizabert -- that's a bit too much, you'll plug up the fountain (^^;;) Pumo does convince her to stop and take it all back with her, though Fine would've liked to use the money for food (of course). Fine and Rein carry back some of the heart-shaped sand from the fountain with them...
On the way back to school, Fine and Rein run into Bright of all people, who asks Rein if she'd like to go shopping with him for a present for his mother the next day. Rein interprets that to mean they'll be going on a date, and there she goes again.... So, what to do on the date... Chiffon-chan, as usual, has an answer, a dating book that Rein studies that night. Number one -- find a sunny place with a nice view to meet. A sleepy Fine suggests the roof... no. Pumo suggests the observation deck on top of a tower. Nice.. Number two -- eat a place where you and your partner can get close. Not a tent, Fine.. Of course, the classic juice with two straws would be good.. doesn't look like Rein-chan'll be sleeping much tonight thinking so much about her date (^^;;) The sand that Rein got from the fountain turns darker...
The next day, Rein is rather nervous as she goes to the appointed meeting place.. well, runs to it since Bright comes out and sees her right in front of the dorms. Tauri and Kalori jog out together to eat some good stamina food, and Fine tags along.
At the top of the tower it's rather cold as Rein waits on Bright. At just the wrong moment, something comes out of the sand from the fountain that Rein's carrying and makes her trip and fall onto Bright. But Bright doesn't get mad since he's such nice guy. Ed-chin observes from a hiding place -- they'll get it soon enough. For lunch, it's juice for two as planned... though once again the unhappy seed in the sand activates and makes her drink all of the juice in one sip. What a lovely face (^^;;) But Bright doesn't mind at all since he's such a nice guy.
Meanwhile, Tauri and Kalori, along with Fine, are ready to dig into a nice big plate of healthy fried rice. Kalori gives Tauri a plate filled with green peas and tells him to eat it, but he doesn't like it at all and they start fighting... something's odd... Rein's in a store with Bright looking at something and suddenly the unhappy seed activates again, making her disagree with him.. but then she goes back to normal. Pumo senses something wrong with her...
Bright and Rein finally make it to Happy Park, but it's turned into quite an unhappy place, the couples there fighting instead of cuddling. Tauri and Kalori are there fighting each other.. so it must be time to use the strongest weapon in Fine and Rein's arsenal -- yup, another forced dance to make everybody feel better (would it really do that?). Right on cue Bibin shows up, using her magic to interrupt the dance. The unhappy seed sprouts, so it's time for Fine and Rein to do their thing as usual, and that they do... and once again, Ed-chin gets the blame for things going wrong. Poor thing...
The first star of the night comes out and Bright decides to take a picture of it to send home to his mother. He brings Rein closer to him and snaps a picture of them together. Very cute :) Rein holds the picture in her bed that night and goes off again. It must've been true love since they didn't fight!... well, no. They were never a couple to begin with, Pumo says...
Ouch, that's a bit mean there, Pumo... it's probably more because Bright's such a nice guy :P
Rein went wild as expected, and it made for quite a fun episode, though it's probably enough since Rein's been in that mode the majority of the past 2 of 3 episodes (^^;;) GJ, Yuuko Gotou as usual. Now with her having a character in Otome wa Boku ni Koi shiteru (that's even more hyper than Rein) I get to hear her twice in a day :)
The Bibin/Ed-chin combo was hilarious this time, too. Poor Ed-chin seems to be on the verge of accepting his position under Bibin since he got into his work a bit more this time. His line about Bibin getting happy and then getting pissed off, followed by Bibin's mu-ka-tsu-ku was great. Next time looks to be even more interesting for Ed-chin...
I'm sure all of you noticed by looking at the screencaps that things are a bit different this time -- pretty easy to tell that the animation director was Mariko Kawamoto, and as expected it turned out looking good. Her Leonne is quite cute, and Rein was as well. I know some would prefer it to stick to the original character design all the time, but so long as the look fits the show (in Futago Hime's case, so long as it's cute it's good) and the episode I'm quite fine with a different take on things. There's been quite a debate about letting animation directors put their own touch on things vs. strictly following original character design (now there's got the 総作画監督 sousakuga kantoku position to try and unify the look of an entire series), but that's a topic for another post, I think ;)
Next time, Pyupyu and Kyukyu try and run an errand by themselves, but there's sure to be trouble.. and what the heck is Ed-chin doing looking like that?
