Otogi Juushi Akazukin 18
Akazukin (hungry as usual) sings as she skips down the road with the others, and just in time for Halloween they come upon a pumpkin patch. It's one with rather odd pumpkins that suddenly grow when they hear music, as a helpful talking scarecrow explains. Val can carry the big pumpkin (he's not a donkey, he's a dog wolf!)... Unbeknownst to them, they're being watched by Randagio along with the rest of the Bremen crew, and this time they'll get Akazukin for sure. They play some rather bad music, and a scary pumpkin they name Pumpking@Norio Wakamoto (Burraaaaaaaaaaa!) grows to match. With it, they go interrupt Akazukin's snack, and for once they get through their introduction. By playing music they can control the big Pumpking, so there's nothing Akazukin and the others can do (oi, Akazukin, stop eating!)... but as usual, Hamelin shows up out of nowhere (nice one, Ringo) to save... well, not save them since he seems to have had some kind of traumatic experience with pumpkins (^^;;)
Obviously, Akazukin and the others have to fight music with music so they can sell some CDs, so pichi pichi voice de live start~, we get a long advertisement for the character songs a PV for Akazukin, Shirayuki, and Ibara.. Sorry Ringo (^^;;) That allows Hamelin to play his pipe (though blindfolded) and finish off the pumpkin. The Bremen team's going to have to run away for now...
So, why is Hamelin so scared of pumpkins? It's all Akazukin's fault since she scared him by wearing a pumpkin mask when they were little. Go figure... Val can sympathize with Hamelin for that.. but Val actually doesn't end it this time, we get a nice shot of Gretel :)
....I had no idea Akazukin Pichi Pichi Pitch started today. But I did like Ibara's song.. dunno about getting the CD. Sorry Konami (^^;;) And why didn't Ringo get a chance to sing?Anyways, despite the blatant advertising it was a fun episode, especially being able to see the Bremen guys again. Chiwa was great, and it's still hard to believe that Tomokazu Sugita can put out that kinda voice compared to him as Kyon or Yuu'ichi. It was a nice surprise to see Wakamoto-sama show up in (what's supposedly) a Saturday morning kids' show. Really, the seiyuu they get to do the guest characters are too good ;)
Next time, though the title is silly it sounds like we'll be getting back to a more serious story with what's his name showing back up. Since I haven't blogged this in a while I can't quite remember everybody (^^;;) But I'll be back on schedule this weekend with it ;)

I dropped watching this series because it wasn't going anywhere.
I wouldn't say it's going nowhere, but I think I'm going to drop it for a while and skip some episodes, at least until we get some more drama/plot down the road. Episode 17 had some pretty God-awful animation, which doesn't help my enjoyment of the series any. The way they "saved" the town in ep 17 (just clean your house and suddenly everyone joins in and is happy again) made me want to smack the writers upside the head with something heavy.
I think part of the problem is I had high expectations from watching the OVA, and was hoping for a love triangle between Ringo, Akazukin, and Souta. Instead the relationship chart is just Ringo->Souta with Souta either too young or clueless to have an opinion on girls at all. Nothing against Ringo, I just wish she had some competition to make things more interesting, other than Shirayuki getting in her way more for comic relief than anything else.
If the little girl from the fairy tale in ep 17 is really Cendrillion, maybe there's some good plot to come down the road, but dancing pumpkins...I think I need a break before I watch ep 18 ^^;
