Hidamari Sketch 10

It's time for the school festival, and Yuno-chan has spent all night at school trying to finish up her picture, but she doesn't get it finished in time. Even with the blank space at the bottom (interpret that however you want), it's pretty well done. And after that, it's time to go to the public bath and have some fun. Miya-chan, don't run around naked... (^^;;)

Well, what to say.... a clearly unfinished episode. Reminds me of that episode of Tsukyomi MOON PHASE that was like a radio drama. I guess Shaft's schedule is pretty rough now, finishing up Negima!? and doing Hidamari Sketch at the same time. One of the staff posted on his/her mixi page that the genga (keyframes) didn't get done until Wednesday, the douga (inbetween frames) didn't get done until 6pm Thursday evening, and the episode ended up getting turned in unfinished. Without pictures to go along with the dialogue and SE, it was a bit tough to know what exactly was going on. The animation that was there was pretty good quality, though... hopefully they'll have the finished version of this episode ready to show on BS-i in a couple weeks. Ganbare, Shaft! Y'all have done a great job up until now, finish it off good, please ;)

Thanks for the info, Matthew. There's been some wild speculation over in the animesuki forums about this, and your comments have shed some light on it.

rf, on that forum, has pointed out repeatedly that late night anime, even more than other anime, is often directed to the DVD market, and not really at the TV market. I say this, b/c if Shaft *doesn't* correct any of this for the BS-i ws broadcast, it might be for the DVD release in any event. I certainly *hope* so. ^^;

One day you'll see Manabi Straight and you'll regret the time you spent on Hidamari Sketch. Oh yesss. They really should've not launched them in the same season, the contrast is too striking.

I am watching Manabi Straight (see "What I'm Watching" page), just haven't blogged it yet.

It was a tongue-in-cheek comment, because, while I'm not watching Hidamari Sketch, everyone who's seen both says that Hidamari Sketch is an excellent anime, yet Manabi Straight is just as good, plus has far stronger production qualities. Therefore, Hidamari Sketch loses, which is a shame. Although, in a way, having an oversupply of good series is a nice problem to have.

Of course, I'd love to see an extended comparison.

The "Now Watching" item is not entirely obvious, I'm sorry. First, not every blog has it, and second, it's on the sidebar and far below. I am used to tune the sidebar out mentally. It usually has ads in it.

I searched "yunocchi kawaii yo yunocchi".
Google suggested "yukichi kawaii yo yukichi".

Sorry, I'm Japanese.

good blog!
Information may be faster more than Japan.
I understood well how a Japanese animation is reflected in the United States.
