HDTV Get!, Fall Shows, etc.
Hey, y'all, I know it's been a while since I posted last. Hard to stop being lazy (^^;; Anyways, I finally got around to getting an HDTV as an early Christmas present to replace my aging TV (with the bottom ticker of the Weather Channel burned into it). After trying out a Westinghouse SK-26H240S 26" and returning it because of some issues (buzzing when changing LCD backlight or some picture settings, av sync problems on inputs) I settled on an Olevia 226T 26" and am very much satisfied with it so far.
The only thing I don't like about it is the very annoying blue LED showing that the main power switch is on when the LCD is off. Why does everybody have to use blue LEDs?
Though I haven't been posting about this season's shows here I have been watching things on Nico Nico Douga as usual (using the very helpful BOON SUTAZIO). My favorites now are:
Shugo Chara! - Amu-chan kawaii yo Amu-chan! Original ep last week was excellent. Satelight, GJ! I'll probably end up getting the DVDs at this rate...
Minamike - Daume, GJ! Asreed's gonna have a high hurdle to get over when Minamike ~ Okawari starts in January.
Sketchbook - Feel good stuff until Aria starts in January. Looking forward to the cat episode next Monday.
Kodomo no Jikan - Goes without saying... too much censoring, though, really.
I've also been pleasantly surprised by Myself; Yourself (what happened to the stereotypical love comedy?), Nightwizard (as an RPG fan, and it's quite good anyways), and ef (yandere, anyone?).
I've also got an order of manga/light novels coming from YesAsia whenever they get everything I ordered in. Got Shigofumi and Kurenai (note that anime character design is very different than original) to do a bit of study before their respective animes start next year, and also the usual things I'm reading like Kami-chama Karin chu and Shugo Chara!. Might post a bit if anything is really interesting.
It's funny you mention blue LEDs...I have a 20" Samsung widescreen I use for when I'm working at home and occasionally to watch anime, and the blue LED for power-on in front is so bright it's almost distracting. I read somewhere that blue LEDs are supposed to be associated with high-end products in the average consumer's mind, although how the Forces of Marketing pulled that off I have no idea.
It's been a good anime season, though, I'm watching a lot of the same things--a lot of really interesting developments towards the end in Night Wizard and Myself;Yourself, although I think Kimikiss is probably my favorite this season by a narrow margin.
