Coyote Ragtime Show 9

For it being less than 24 hours before the bomb planted next to the place where Bruce's treasure is -- not dropped from space as was thought. Apparently that's unheard of -- turns Graceland into space dust, Mister and crew are awfully relaxed, joking about making Swamp and Bishop go together since they'd fight with each other. Not exactly a plan for success (^^;;) The 4th quarter sisters (Oct-Dec) had a good bit of screentime, so that was quite nice of the staff ;) Meanwhile, on the surface of Graceland, Angelica and Chelsea, along with May's head, who seem to have gotten rather friendly with each other, have a bit of a problem -- they've been found by the sisters. Not quite as exciting as it should be, but better than recent episodes. At least the animation is back to normal after the rare hiccup from ufotable last time. The next ep previews for this ep and the previous were uploaded Sunday night (the show airs Monday), so I wonder if they've got a rough schedule or something... Hopefully things can finish with a bang in the last three episodes.

We pick up from last time where Katana was busy avoiding Guild ships in the Coyote, Marciano and the sisters have arrived, and Mister and Franca have just opened up the warp gate and are trying to get back to the Coyote. Mister, carrying Franca, manages to grapple onto one of the Guild ships, throw the pilot out, and take control of it. Meanwhile, the sisters board ships and decide who will chase the Coyote and who will go after Mister -- January is told to go after the Coyote, but she wants revenge for September's death so she goes after Mister.

The battle goes on, with Mister finally getting in touch with Katana and deciding to meet at the marketplace. Mister's ship gets hit, though, so he and Franca have to eject and go on foot. January and April pursue as Katana gets the Coyote to the marketplace, with Bishop arriving there as well, but the other sisters start blasting the entire area not soon after. Back on Marciano's ship, February has hacked into the station's surveillance system and is tracking Mister and Franca... and here comes the old hide in the top of the elevator trick ;) Mister and Franca get away -- the sisters don't seem to have very good aim -- and the Coyote takes a shot at April and January, blasting one of January's arms off. The Coyote stops above Mister and Franca, but Mister tells Kataka to get away -- right after a beam from Marciano's ship blows a huge hole though the ground there, separating Mister and Franca.

Mister discusses what they should do to get to Graceland with Katana, Bishop, and Swamp while having a nice meal prepared by Franca. Mister suggests they use a warp gate nearby since that's the quickest way there... speaking of eating -- Angelica, as usual, chows down while questioning May.. well, May's head about Marciano's plans. May tells her that they're after Mister and Franca, and that she knows where they're headed...

Franca is sitting by herself, looking rather depressed again when Katana comes in... she thinks Mister and the other will be done with her after they get her father's treasure. Katana says that isn't the case at all.. Katana docks the ship inside a rather large vessel, and everybody gets off -- in disguise. Mister and Franca try selling the crew some shirts, but the captain wants it first -- and it he gets. They hitch a ride on the ship to the warp gate and get through security and customs and such there easily with fake passports and all.

The gate to Graceland is closed for now, so they'll have to force their way through -- Mister's got a plan and explains the details. And just coincidentally, Oppai-chan Chelsea and Angelica (carrying May's head in that birdcage) walk right by, but they don't notice Mister and the others because of their great disguises ;) Franca stops and looks at a poster advertising a vacation on the planet Aquaria (Neo Venetia there?), the catchphrase "Never change". Mister walks into the travel agency and sets it up so that all of them can go there after they're done with things.

The plan gets underway with each member carrying out their job to open the gate, with Katana and Swamp back onboard the Coyote. Things are going pretty well, but Marciano's ship, the 12 sisters and Marciano herself onboard, arrives. The gate is finally unlocked, but the Coyote's under fire and the sisters are about to attack, and...

That's it for this time, we'll have to wait until next time to see the rest ;) If we've learned anything these past two episodes, it's that security is apparently rather lax in the universe these days, being able to break into banks like Bruce did last time and then break into the warp gate like Mister and crew did this time. Really, you'd think they would learn (^^;;) No big action this time again, mostly the same kinds of things as Bruce did last time, but it was enjoyable.... I'm not saying that just because Franca had a lot of screentime or anything, nope. She was very cute as usual ;) Speaking of Franca, I thought she had gotten over the "nobody cares about me" thing in episode 2, but apparently not as she was depressed again this time. Mister putting in reservations for a vacation afterwards for her and everybody else since she wanted to go, along with everything else he's done should give her a hint that's not the case at all, but we'll see when she finally gets over it.

Next time... the preview isn't up yet so I don't know. Hopefully there'll be a bit of action to make up for the lack of it the past couple of episodes, though I do like slower paced episodes as well. And if one sister has to go, don't let it be August ;)

This time Mister and the rest watch a video contained on a chip inside Franca's pendant. The video shows all of what Franca's father, Bruce, saw during his biggest heist, stealing quite a bit of space dollars (it's a big number) from the Central Bank. He first becomes an employee of the bank under a false identity and eventually works himself up the ladder to where he's put in charge of various projects -- enough access for him to get detailed plans of the bank's vault and security system. With those in hand, he creates a plan to pull off the biggest heist ever, of course with some help from his friends, including Swamp. On the planet Graceland he had a replica of the bank's Rubik's cube-esque vault to practice on -- cost quite a bit, but the payoff is even bigger if he can pull it off. But why have that on Graceland and not somewhere closer to the bank? Franca says that's where he met her mother....

The day of heist finally comes and the plan goes into action. Swamp impersonates a security officer as Bruce goes through the security checks with voice recordings and false eyes and plain ol' sneaking through vents to get to the central vault, and after a bit of spinning around he makes it outside where he can set some explosives to trigger the bank's emergency system to raise the vaults with the loot up to the top where a ship piloted by his accomplices is waiting... Is there really that much money in those cubes? Anyways, it's pretty much the perfect heist...

Bruce is quite the cool guy, ain't he? And that's about all we know about him after this time. A master at his craft -- though more thief than pirate ;) No sisters and not much action, so this episode wasn't quite as exciting as the previous ones, though Bruce himself and the way he went about the big heist was a bit interesting to see. Hopefully next time things can pick up a bit... and I wouldn't mind more Franca ;)

As usual, you can view the next episode preview at the show's website (click "story" then "next show time").

Last time, Mister and Sora managed to escape from the 12 sisters, but of course the sisters aren't going to let them get too far, giving chase in helicopters -- Katana seemed to think the sisters would let them go for some reason or another.. he didn't even think about what to do if they did come after them (^^;) Now to do something about those "dolls", as Mister calls the sisters. As for the sisters... it seems May wasn't retrieved after getting that RPG to the back -- she's gone missing and they have no idea where she's at... Mister takes the gunners' seat, while Katana uses some fancy flying to evade the rain of fire from the sisters.. Mister asks Franca if she's heard anything from someone called Swamp, the "right-hand man" of Franca's father, Bruce. Seems Bishop had a run-in with him and lost, though he denies it.. Franca says Swamp stops by the bar every now then to see how everything's going. Katana takes the ship into water -- so it's submersible, too? nifty -- and it drops off the sisters' radar.

Opening: "COYOTE" by Naoki with Power Sound: Animation's great, music itself is good, but the vocals... a bit off (^^;;)

Ending: "Usuragu kioku" by Sana - Claymation as expected, and done very well as usual :)

A girl lays down in her bed, clutching a pendant... there's a photo of her, along with her father and Mister in her room...

The Guild meets Marciano at her mansion to discuss whether to throw her out of the organization. They want to know what she could possibly be hiding, and what the coyotes she's after could have. Her maids pull out guns (with the laser sights on for good effect). Is she planning a coup d'etat?... Angelica, making good deductions as usual, noticed that Mister only had 10 days left in his jail term (刑期 keiki, not ケーキ cake), so there was no reason for him to escape unless there was something very urgent...

Meanwhile, on the planet Ku-rong, Katana and Bishop work on repairing Mister's ship. On the TV there's a report that the planet Graceland is going to be gone to bits in 7 days, but it's interrupted by an afro guy that calls himself Super Soul, and he likes rock 'n roll. Of course... At a bar called the Pirate in the city, the patrons are listening to a report about Mister's escape from the prison of Sandvil. A fight breaks out, but a girl brings it to an end with one hit of a frying pan -- she's Franca@Ryou Hirohashi, the one in charge of the bar since Mister's away. And speak of the devil, Mister walks in with Bishop and Katana. Mister wonders if Franca's grown any in the year he's been gone. She gives him a nice slap across the face ;)
