Wow, things are getting good. This episode is really packed FULL of things. We continue the philosophic bent from the end of the previous episode as Ed and Al go deeper into the lab. A character from a previous episode (that I'd rather not remember), Tucker, shows up, but in a very different form than before. Even though he was supposed to be executed the army has made him do more research on the Philopher's Stone. He still hasn't succeeded yet, failing many times trying to do human alchemy with some rather shocking results.
As far as Al goes, while he's fighting Number 66 outside the lab Scar shows up. Eventually, after Number 66 sets off a trap and runs away, Scar and Al go into the lab together after him and run into Lust and Gluttony. Looks like we'll find out where they came from next time. We get some background on Scar this time. His brother was researching the Philosopher's Stone, but failed in his experiments and eventually went mad as Ishbar was destroyed by the military, it seems.
I certainly hope this trend continues, though I do have my doubts since the manga is still being published. I'd rather it not go on forever and ever.
Current Rating: Up to an A- now for the nice story developing.
Taking care of more of the backlog here... Oooh, things are getting interesting now. The Elric brothers have deciphered Dr. Marco's research and discovered how the Philosopher's Stone (kenja no ishi) is made. And it ain't pretty. Both of them decide to go investigate a suspicious lab that's been abandonded for some time, where they suspect the research was conducted. But.. Scar is hot on their trail.. And more bad guys show up at the lab.. This show and Naruto pretty much fulfill my shounen fighting needs each week :)
Anyways, not a bad episode. They still managed to throw in a joke about Edward being a chibi (okay, I get it already!). I hope things continue to stay interesting (no filler, please!).
Current Rating: B+ (Trend: going up over the past few episodes)
