Elizabert can't stand the heat -- no air conditioning, apparently. She'd prefer sitting in a cool room eating hot cheese fondue, so she's going to call her cooling machine and freeze the entire Fushigiboshi (^^;;) Fine and Rein stop her and say they'll take her somewhere cooler..
They all go to the Windmill Kingdom to meet Sophie and watch an airship race between Auler and Bright. It's still not cool enough for Elizabert -- she wonders where the wind comes from, so Sophie explains that the windmills make it. Elizabert wants her to make them go faster.. no (^^;;) Fango gives Elizabert a travel guide and tells her to read -- Fine and Rein explain how the Fushigiboshi works (the background music from the avant from the 1st season). Fine and Rein are in the guide, too. Edward, in butterfly form, thinks he could use the windmills... after they all arrive at the castle, Edward possess Sophie when she's alone.
Sophie, now in Edward's control, goes to one of the windmills. Edward remembers Fine talking about the Jewel Kingdom producing things... she goes back to the castle and asks Bright, who was having tea with Fine, Rein, and Auler, to talk with her for a bit. It's not the usual Sophie.. Rein thinks that it's love~. So if Sophie and Bright get married, then Altessa will be Auler's sister, and call him onii-sama, and... there's something bad about that? ;) Fine, Rein, and Auler spy on evil Sophie talking to Bright about some kind of party. Bright seems more kind than he is with Rein...
While Pumo tries to keep Elizabert cool so she doesn't destroy the Fushigiboshi, Rein lies face-down on a couch, rather depressed. Fine says she should ask Bright directly, but Rein can't do that. Fine says she'll do it for her and runs out, but before Fine can say anything to Bright, Rein pushes her out of the way and tells her not to say anything. She'll do it herself.

Fine and Rein are so happy about finally going back home to the Fushigiboshi that they're literally bouncing off the walls -- bouncing around and running smack into Carla and Shasha (sure can carry a lot of stuff, those two) at the bottom of the stairs. Seems Elizabert hadn't decided where to go over break, but the Fushigiboshi sounds good now. She looks into that mirror -- Edward appears, actually showing himself this time, and says the usual line to possess Elizabert.
As usual, Fine and Rein are running behind getting to the train. While running there, they notice Fango's still at the school -- he doesn't seem to be going back home over break. Fine and Rein drag him along to the train station and they manage to get on at the last minute. Elizabert's onboard as well, and asks Fine and Rein to take Carla and Shasha's place. Fine and Rein do the "muri" (that's impossible) dance. Yup, that's right in many different ways, as Altessa said (^^;;)
The train finally arrives at the station on the Fushigiboshi. There, Altessa's parents along with all of the other royal families (save for Fine and Rein's parents) are waiting. Hold on here -- didn't Miruro and Tio and the Seed Kingdom princesses leave last week? Well, I got to see Miruro so that's fine... I guess ;) Anyways, Fine and Rein get on their airship and head back home to the Sun Kingdom, making the usual rough landing. Fine and Rein jump into their mother's arms. Toluse says it must've been rough for Pumo. Yup, certainly was (^^;;) Camelot's rather surprised to see Elizabert and Fango there -- she tells Toluse that Fango's known for being a rough character at school, but he still welcomes Fango and tells him to make himself at home... Edward (inside Elizabert) doesn't like this kind familiy at all...
Fine and Rein, now wearing very cute outfits, talk to their parents about what's been going on. They give Elza a souvenir -- two pretty rocks, that's all. Elza thanks them for it. She's kept all of the little things Fine and Rein have given her and put them on a necklace, which she takes out of a box and shows to them -- the first thing they gave her is there, what they gave her when they went to beach, it's all there. It's a treasure to Elza.

Everybody's leaving to go back home for summer break, everybody except those from the Fushigiboshi that missed the train -- Fine, Rein, Altessa, Shade, Bright, Leonne, Auler, and Sophie are stuck there until the next train. Altessa's rather depressed, so everybody decides to go do some fun stuff, then watch the meteor shower that night to cheer her up a bit. But of course, Edward doesn't want anything like that to happen -- Auler looks into that mirror and Edward takes control of him. That "When our eyes met.." line of Edward's is too good ;) Fango's still at the school as well, but he's not interested in going with everybody...
The gang finds a nice spot next to a river to set up camp. Auler's got a nice chair and umbrella set up for Altessa, but she's still rather depressed... she should be at home having a decor party with her mother now... While Fine and Rein and the other prepare food, Auler goes to wash the vegetables along with Altessa. As he's getting ready to do that, Edward takes over and makes him spill the vegetables into the river... well, they've still got BBQ so it's okay -- but Shade, in a very un-Shade like moment, mentions it'd be great if they did have vegetables, making Altessa feel even more depressed (^^;;) Edward goes to work again when Altessa takes drinks to Fine and Rein, making Auler bump into her and spill the drinks on the grill...

No change to the OP this time even though Toma's no longer evil and no longer at the school, but anyways.
The prince in the painting, Edward, has to find a new "piece" to replace Toma to use to make sure peace never comes to the school... It's finally time for summer vacation so Fine and Rein are getting ready to go back home, packing a ton of stuff scattered all around their room to take back. If they're late the next train to the Fushigiboshi doesn't come for another week... The vice principal looks over grades -- they're down quite a bit, so he's rather mad at Ban Jo and Tanba Rin. He tells Yayan and Rarau to come up with a way to get grades back up, otherwise -- no summer break for them. Yayan stops in front of that mirror and Edward's eyes appear inside it. When Edward's eyes met his.... no, not that ;) Yayan is now under Edward's control...
The posessed Yayan goes on closed-circuit school TV and announces that there will be a test the next day -- those that don't pass will lose summer break. The vice principal is pleased with Yayan's idea, but Yayan wants even more power, the power to make the rules -- Yayan pulls out some rather embarassing photos of the vice principal and threatens to spread them around the school if he doesn't get his way. Ban Jo comes in to object, but the vice principal tells them to follow Yayan's directions...
Meanwhile, Fine and Rein start studying with Chiffon's help, but it looks pretty much hopeless for them. Bright and Shade come in, and soon Sophie and Altessa and Rosemary and Miruro (yay!) and many others come to help each other study. Everybody seems to be having fun, but it doesn't last for long as Yayan comes in and says helping others is prohibited -- he's the one making the rules now.

Preparations for the play are just about finished up. Miruro's helping out paint -- "Thank you, Kyukyu and Pyupyu". She got a line! It's about time ;) Meanwhile, practice is going on, lead by choukantoku Pumo. Toma's a great actor, and so is Shade. Toma doesn't really have to try as hard since the play's story is his own. One of his friends, Dario, betrayed him and he was forced to flee the castle. Toma gets into it a bit too much and does an adlib, saying he'll come back and triumph over Dario, instead of you're my friend forever and such.
Practice gets back underway with Toma going to a village, where Fine and Rein make their appearance.... it's so bad even Toma can't find anything to say (^^;;) The choukantoku isn't satisfied at all with the flat delivery of their lines and those hideous "smiles", showing them how to do it the right away. Fine and Rein go to Toma for advice -- he says just to smile as you usually do, but they still can't quite do it right. Elizabert, inside the monument, is tired of waiting for her chance to shine onstage. She doesn't like being the monument anyways. Pumo and Chiffon put on an act, saying Elizabert's got the last line so it's an important role, and Fine and Rein join in saying they wish they had gotten that role.. Elizabert falls for it (^^;;) Practice starts up again with Sophie's debut, and she's quite a good actress, and then they finally end after Toma makes up with his friends, with Elizabert getting the last medetashi, medetashi. Fine and Rein screw it up as usual, though... after having a laugh at the rather dispirited Pumo, Fine and Rein realize they should smile just like they did, thanks to what Toma told them with his warm smile.
Toma talks to the painting again.. he's going to show them that neither friends nor smiles are necessary once the play starts...
The play gets underway, and Miruro gets yet another line! :) Fine and Rein change into their costumes, leaving everything else in the dressing room. Toma's bats emerge from a mirror and take their Bell Charms... Back at the play, Lemon's got the stage to herself doing her usual comedy routine. Pyupyu and Kyukyu are messing with the lights, messing things up that much more until Leonne finally gets the lighting fixed. When Fine and Rein make it backstage, a large amount of those bats suddenly appear, blocking their way onstage....

Toma once again speaks to that painting, now in a hidden room behind a mirror in the school, saying there's nothing to worry about... In the library, Chiffon's found a book with something about a painting of a prince and princess that was in the old schoolhouse. They were said to have lived in happiness from the day they married until they died, and the painting of them was a sort of guardian deity of the school. Toma comes and interrupts the conversation with a favor to ask of Fine and Rein -- he wants to be a part of their school friendship project. Fine and Rein are more than happy to have him... it's got to be the fushigi power of the fushigi HiME hime ;) They have no idea what evil plan Toma has in store for them, though... Shade seems rather suspicious of Toma.
Toma wants to put on a play. Fine and Rein think it a great idea, but Shade has an objection -- he saw someone that time when the boar wrecked the greenhouse. He can't trust Toma saying he wants to help simply because he's Toma.. Fine laughs and says Shade's overeacting, explaning that Toma's a scholarship student so he'd be studying all the time and not have time to do such things. Toma's now a commoner, but he was once a prince of the Walpurgis Planet. He left, separated from his friends, which was quite rough... so that's why he wants to show people that they don't need friends. Fine suggests using Toma's story as the story for the play, and Rein agrees. But will the vice principal allow such a thing? Toma goes to ask the vice principal for permission to put on a play, and with the headmaster's backing he gets it.
Fine and Rein gather students to help out with the play, getting quite a crowd. Elizabert's once again left out... Toma has no intention of making the play about friendship, of course, since something like friendship is... let's say it together -- hitsuyou nai! (not necessary!).

Leonne tells Fine and Rein about hearing that on the night the greenhouse was destoryed, somebody saw the shadow of a boar running towards the old school building. Altessa's heard the same kinds of stories, too. Then the monsters must be coming from somewhere nearby...
At the old school building, Elizabert (along with Shasha and Carla, of course) and the vice principal prepare to go ahead with their plans to demolish the building to make way for Elizabert Memorial Hall. A good way to increase Elizabert's popularity, Shasha and Carla think. Even the stalker Toma is quite surprised by that, spying from nearby as usual. A very creepy voice echoes from inside, saying those that try to destroy the old school building will be cursed. The doors open and a cute girl walks out, tripping over something. Fine asks what she was doing there.. Rosemary goes into horror mode, scaring the crap out of Fine ;) Back to cute mode in an instant -- Rosemary's doing occult club activities. Then to horror mode in an instant -- the evil spirits are very mad, it seems. If they demolish it the servants of darkness will come... that's enough to get Elizabert to call off her plans and get the heck outta dodge running as quickly as she can... Toma's still spying -- could Rosemary hae found out his secret?
Fine and Rein decide to go to the occult club room and ask Rosemary for help since the monsters seem to be coming from the old school building which she seems to know a lot about. Rosemary made a map of the old school building by sneaking over many nights. She goes over the places where evil spirits might lurk -- beyond this door that won't open, in the science lab, in the art room.. Fine is quite scared. Rein suggests they go take a look. But before that, Rosemary asks if they'd like to join the club -- iyaiya to that (^^;;)
Fine, Rein, and Rosemary go to the old school house as the sun sets... Meanwhile, the door that wouldn't open for Rosemary opens with a word from Toma and he goes inside, his evil monsters are all there. He speaks to a painting of someone on the wall, saying that he'll protect whoever it is...

Fine and Rein are running late to school as usual as the rain comes down, but when they arrive at their class no one is there. Bright explains that a cold is going around the school, and so many students are sick that classes are canceled. Bright was there to get some books from the library to take back to some of his sick classmates in the boys' dorm. That gives Fine and Rein the idea to do something to help out in the girls' dorm. Fine's going to see Creyson (the gardener) and get some flowers from him while Rein goes back to the dorm to help out Camelot and Lulu.
Fine goes to the garden, but Creyson isn't there. Shade is working in the greenhouse, and tells her that Creyson is taking the day off like most everyone else. Very cute reaction when Fine noticed Shade was there :) Fine can't take any flowers without Creyson there, but Shade will give her some of the herbs he's been raising there in the greenhouse. Shade gives her a bottle with a mixture to help supress some of the symptoms of a cold, and tells her to put it in a soup to give to everyone.
Fine brings Shade's herb mixture back to Camelot, Lulu, and Rein, who were just making some soup. When they all leave to get some dishes, Pyupyu seems to want to do something to help out as well. She starts putting all sorts of things into the soup, then tries to add Shade's herbs, but of course everything comes crashing down, making quite a mess. When Fine sees that, she says that she hates Pyupyu. Pyupyu cries and goes away... While Fine's cleaning up the mess, Pumo tells her that she shouldn't have gotten mad like that, Pyupyu's still only a baby. But Pyupyu messed up the herbs Shade gave her. She's going to go apologize to Shade.
Shade leaves the greenhouse, but someone is watching. Yup, the stalker Toma has been there the whole time. And yes, it's "hitsuyou nai" time again -- no heart or warm herbs needed at this school. How did Toma hear Shade say that from so far away? :P Anyways, he unleashes a boar that destroys the greenhouse. As he leaves the scene, Pyupyu comes by... Fine and Rein arrive to see the destruction -- but they can't use their power since Pyupyu's not there. Fine goes off by herself and tries to put things back in order, putting the herbs under cover. Rein and Pumo go to search for Pyupyu..

The vice principal gets a call from a representative of the Universal Board of Education. He boasts of how high the grades at his school are, and that even he got Fine and Rein, the most un-princess-like pri(ry to become Universal Princesses. The representative wants to come to observe class -- just Fine and Rein. Uh-oh....
Fine and Rein prepare for the special class -- table manners -- with help from Camelot and Lulu. Of course, since this is Fine and Rein we're talking about, they have no idea how to do things properly (^^;;) The next day, Fine and Rein are worn out from practicing all night long as Sophie, Lemon, and Altessa talk to them. Sophie suggests that she and Altessa pretend to be Fine and Rein and take their place, but of course that won't work.
The vice principal is rather uneasy, pacing around while waiting for the representative from the Universal Board of Education to come A miracle might happen and he might be able to keep his job... or maybe not.. probably not. The representative finally arrives -- a short man with a tail, wearing a yellow nekimimi-ish hat. From the same planet as Herb?
Tanba Rin starts the special table manner class with the Universal Board of Education representative observing. She doesn't seem to look all that well, and eventually collapses.. she's got a pretty high fever, so Fine and Rein want to take her to the nurse's office, but the vice principal won't allow it. Thankfully, Ban Jo comes in to take Tanba Rin's place teaching class so she can rest. The class starts again, first with how to eat bread -- but there's no bread. Apparently they didn't have enough money left after buying refreshments for the representative (^^;;) Fine can't stand it, and says that it isn't yummy at all (being air, of course). That gets Ban Jo riled up, letting out a shout that can be heard all over the school -- that's something you absolutely don't say. The representative's tail points down a bit -- if it points straight down it's over...
The class starts again, this time with soup. Rein handles it well, but Fine's rather nervous and ends up making a sound with her spoon. Rein gets scolded for looking over -- you pretend you don't see it when others mess up (^^;;)

Though it's only morning at the school, a rather heated soccer match (just in time for the World Cup) is underway. Your typical sports shounen, Tauri (with the spiked hair, of course), and Calori (a girl, though she talks like a guy) are especially competitive. The vice principal finds that competitive spirit admirable and awards both 3 points on the spot. Calori then puts one right through the goal with a "fire!" and a laugh that sounds more like a guy ("Gah hah hah hah!"). Calori seems rather popular among the girls, which Tauri points out. Calori asks him to take a towel from a girl that's apparently an admirer of his. Tauri finds her, wearing decor and rather girlish, rather kawaii -- Calori gets a strange feeling in her chest when she hears that...
As the bell rings to signal the start of classes, Fine and Rein are running late as usual, race walking (not running. That'd be against the rules) through the halls to try and make it on time. They notice Calori blankly looking out a window and asks her if there's something wrong. Nothing, she says... her intercostales interni muscles (yes, she did use the technical term 胸部肋間筋 kyouburokkankin. muscles around the ribs) do feel odd for some reason, though. She has no idea what's wrong... On a sidenote, Calori uses 俺 ore to refer to herself here... more than a few girls in anime that use 僕 boku, but you don't hear ore that often.
After class, Calori goes to Fine and Rein and asks them to teach her how to make decor. She heard from Leonne (a teammate) that they were good at it. As she does, she tries her best to speak like a girl (using atashi and kashira and such), but it's rather odd. She does end up going back to the usual "Gah hah hah" laugh in the end. But why is she interested in decor now? Calori tells Fine and Rein about what Tauri said about the girl that morning... even since then she's been feeling weird. Fine and Rein know what that feeling is -- could it be... love? ;) No way, they're rivals, and he's the most important thing in the universe to her, and she'd do anything for him.. yup, that's it. Rein says that Calori's otome switch has been turned on ;)
Fine and Rein ask Calori what she'd like to make -- a sports bracelet, she says. Time for some advertising! to make some decor with the good ol' Decor Maker (I won't mention the name it goes by in the jikkyou.....). Calori gets a bit too into it, turning the handle too fast, then "changing form" and breaking out a sweat... I don't think you have to do anything besides turn the handle, really (^^;;) And a rather small bracelet is the result of all that turning. Fine suggests Calori make another one to give to Tauri, embarassing her. Fine and Rein will cheer her on!.. and they do the suteki dance. The stalker Toma peeks through the door, not liking what he's seen, but it isn't quite hitsuyou nai time yet.
Calori has a big smile on, seeming rather pleased with her necklace. Very cute, and very much like a girl :) Tauri shows up to ask Calori to play soccer with him, so Fine and Rein prod her to give him the bracelet she made. Calori points it out to Tauri, but he has a rather puzzled look and tells her to hurry up and come practice with him as he runs out. That's not it, Tauri.... Fine and Rein tell Calori to catch up with him, and that she does. Tauri's ready to start, saying he won't lose this time, but Calori tells him to take the bracelet she made... he doesn't get it. It's her.. feelings... she made it for him. Tauri says that's not like her at all, leaving her stunned... Tauri kicks the soccer ball towards her, hitting her right in the face and knocking the bracelet out of her hand and into a nearby pond (it shouldn't fly that far, though...)..
