A bit late here, I know... and I actually got up early on Saturday to watch this episode ;)

While Fine and Rein sleep peacefully (kawaii~~), Leonne is up early in the morning jogging with her team (Ashley and Calori) when she sees a friend, Melba, looking through a window. Leonne waves to Melba, but Melba ignores her....

In Math class, the subject of the day is solving a block puzzle. Fine and Rein aren't too good at it, and of course Pyupyu and Kyukyu mess things up even more (y'all probably noticed that there was a color miss in this scene. Fine and Rein's eye colors were switched, which was rather odd to see...). When Leonne's team goes up, Leonne can't concentrate while trying to put together the puzzle. Later at lunch, Leonne tries to talk to Melba again, but Melba leaves, saying that she wants to eat alone.

Leonne ends up having lunch with Fine and Rein and tells them about Melba. Melba's from the Osekkai (not being able to leave people alone when they're in trouble, or if you were to state it negatively, "nosy") Planet. The Flame Kingdom has had good relations with them for a while, so Leonne and Melba have been friends for a long time. Leonne thought of her as an caring older sister... Fine and Rein noticed that Leonne was looking rather down so they want to help. Something must've happened to make Melba change so much... they decide to ask Chiffon about it.

Chiffon says that Melba's always alone, she hasn't even joined a team yet. After school, Fine and Rein go to Melba's class to look for her, but a girl there says that she's already left. Fine, Rein, and Leonne run and finally catch up with Melba as she's walking through town. Melba says she's got somewhere to go, though.. still, Fine and Rein, want Melba to play with them or go to a restaurant or do this and that.. they're rather annoying, honestly (^^;;) Leonne follows Melba and asks her what happened...

It happened right after Melba entered the school. During a relay race another girl, Fran, fell down and hurt herself. Melba, being from the Osekkai Planet, couldn't just leave her alone so she helped her up. That led to 5 points being taken away from Fran (and her team) for getting help from someone. Melba went to apologize to Fran, but Fran's team members wouldn't accept it. Ever since then, Melba's been afraid of associating with others... when she sees someone who needs help she can't sit there and do nothing, but at the school that's apparently a bad thing. Leonne tells her that's not the case at all, but Melba dismisses that as being naive. Melba runs away, telling Leonne to leave her alone...

Time for a field trip! However, Elizabert is not satisfied with the planned destination (a mountain nearby), so she complains and says she'll choose somewhere to go from among her collection of planets... and how many planets do you have there? Plans are changed to go to the Farm Planet, and in addition to that the vice principal wants the students to write a report about the trip.

So it's time to load up and head out on a train to the Farm Planet. Lemon's brought along a pile of bananas -- apparently an essential item for those of the Naniwan Planet. Of course, Fine wants one (banana banana banana banana banana banana de ba-na-na!) March blows her whistle and holds up a -1 penalty card -- no eating or drinking on the train. However, Toma steps in and says to let is pass, they should have fun since it's a field trip and all, and Fine didn't even eat in the first place. Of course Toma doesn't intend for it to be a fun field trip at all.. meanwhile, Tanba Rin sits by herself and thinks about back when she was learning to be a teacher. The most important thing to remember is... her flashback is interrupted when Fine and Rein start getting excited when they see the Farm Planet come into view. Tanoshimi dance :)

Now at their destination, Ban Jo gives the students instructions on what they'll be doing -- pick something and write a report about it. Fine and Rein didn't hear anything (kiite nai) about having to do a report . Of course the kiite nai dance follows. The teams split up and go about thinking about what they'll do for a report... Fine, busy chasing Pyupyu around, and Rein, busy videotaping, seem to have already forgotten about the report part. That's the Fushigi Hime for you (^^;;) Pyupyu ends up dropping the cream that was supposed to be its lunch... no problem, says Tanba Rin -- Toma's going to teach them how to make cream by milking the cows there. Fine goes to work milking one of the afro cows and does it pretty well -- Toma suggests she do it some more. When Fine speeds up the milking the cow goes wild with Tamba Rin riding on top. She's thrown off and lands in the path of the raging cow, but Ban Jo steps in and saves her with the power of love, picking up and raising the cow above his head. Ends up falling on him, of course. Ouch (^^;;) March steps in with more -1 penalty cards -- apparently making a cow go wild is against the rules. Who came up with that one?...

Rein's out reporting for the school news again, this time taking a look at the princes of the Fushigiboshi are doing. Auler's in the chess club (must be pretty smart), Shade is popular as usual, and Bright is in the fencing club (who cares about him?). There's somebody else that wants to be in the fencing club -- the very little Prince Solo of the Seed Kingdom. He's been trying to get in to no avail, and now even Pyupyu and Kyukyu have some fun with him, tying up his hair in braids. The other members of the club laugh at him... Toma then tells him that those with no real talent won't get better no matter how hard they try.

Chiffon tells Fine and Rein a bit about Toma's background. He's actually a commoner, a former prince of the royal family of the Walpurgis Planet who was admitted to the school on a special scholarship. He came to the school to try and revive the royal family there. It takes a lot of talent to obtain a special scholarship. That would partially explain that attitude of his.... Chiffon, Fine, and Rein come upon Solo, who's training by himself. His training isn't exactly going all that well. Ouch (^^;;) Fine and Rein offer to help him with his training. He can't give up!.. and they do the iyaiya dance... somebody is watching from nearby.

Fine, Rein, Chiffon, and Pumo try to figure out what would be the best training for Solo.. Fine and Rein can't really fence with him. Given how clumsy those two are he'd get hurt (^^;;) They put their eyes on Pumo -- yup, Pumo would be about right. They put Pumo in a suit of armor and he and Solo have something resembling a swordfight. As Pumo charges at Solo someone grabs his tail and runs away. Fine and the others follow her through the city. The girl ends up running into Shade after making a corner -- her name's Herb, a classmate of Fine and Rein. She seems to be rather infatuated with Solo, finding him extremely cute... her seiyuu isn't listed in the credits, but I'm 99.9% sure it's Tomoko Kaneda (who also does Pyupyu) from that little act ;)

Camelot and Lulu go to wake Fine and Rein up and find their room covered in scribbles. No, it's not the work of Hinaichigo, it's Pyupyu and Kyukyu, now scribbling on Fine and Rein's faces... Fine and Rein are already worn out when they go to school and talk to Altessa, Lemon, Chiffon thanks to the commotion Pyupyu and Kyukyu caused. Pumo still has scribbles on his face. No, it's not an "image change", Chiffon-chan (^^;;) But where are Kyukyu and Pyupyu now? They're in Fine and Rein's bags, scribbling away...

Class for the day is held in the town near the school. They're supposed to choose a shop and help out there and write a report about it. Poor Tanba Rin-sensei gets blown down by the wind before she finishes the explanation. There are all kinds of shops and places to eat in town that Fine and Rein have only passed by, so they want to check them out before getting to schoolwork. Pumo warns that they'd get docked points yet again...

イヤイヤイヤ~ イヤイヤ~
iyaiyaiya~ iyaiya~

Yes, the iyaiya dance is back, though in Gyu! style and a bit faster. Nice to see it again :) Of course, Chiffon finds it very fushigi. While they dance Pyupyu and Kyukyu splash around in some water... anyways, it's off to the shop where they'll be helping out. Fine beat Rein in a contest of paper-rock-scissors so they're going to her choice -- a place to eat sweets, of course. It's completely empty, but Pyupyu and Kyukyu smell something and head to the back. There, the manager of the store is rather depressed that he can't come up with the perfect sweet and looks at a photo of his father surrounded by students from the school... Pyupyu and Kyukyu quickly start eating away and fill themselves up before Fine and Rein can stop them.

The manager of the store is named Patty, and he offers everyone a rather delicious-looking piece. Pyupyu and Kyukyu eat away some more -- bottomless pits, those two (^^;;) Fine happily eats as well. It tastes delicious to her, but Patty says that it's a failure, it's not what he's looking for. Looking at a board covered with photos of students enjoying some sweets, Patty explains that his family has run a cafe in the town and that students from the school often came there.

There's even a photo of a young Elza and Toluse there. Very cute. btw, that girl in the second picture there remind anybody of Haruhi? ;) Anyways.... when Patty took over the store fewer and fewer students came. It's definitely that vice principal's fault, Pumo says. Patty wants to bring everybody back with smiles with a new recipe. But what Fine ate was already plenty good enough... so that means it'll be even better than that! Fine grabs Patty's hands (Gyu!) and says they'll help him out.

Rein, now wearing an apron, thinks sweets should be colorful and cute so she brings out a platter of various fruits. Fine suggest they put everybody's favorite foods in it -- cola and fish and potato chips... I've seen this somewhere before.... Somebody's gonna die (((( ;゚Д゚)))ガクガクブルブル Chiffon helps out as well, looking very very cute in an apron. Of course, the peace and quite doesn't last long as Pyupyu and Kyukyu once again start going on a rampage, throwing all sorts of things around and making a mess. Fine and Rein have had it with them now... but that makes Pyupyu and Kyukyu even more angry and after messing things up some more they go outside, following a butterfly...

The bell rings to mark the end of the school day so it's time for club activities. Rein's still doing the news, but Fine hasn't found a club yet. Sophie and Altessa go together, not to the comedy club (nice tsukkomi, Pumo!), but to a decor club, it seems. Seems the Decor maker is still around so they can sell more to the kids watching the show. Miruro is in the art club (of course), and Leonne is doing volleyball. So what should Fine do? Cheerleading!.. but the vice principal informs her that there's no cheering around here.

Fine ends up going to the science club's room. Four of the members walked out, leaving the club president, Future from the Edison Planet (nice naming once again...) by himself. Seems they couldn't agree on what to do... Fine says she'll go get the other members, but Future tells her he can do it by himself. And since she insists on helping out... he puts a helmet on her and places her in this little car in a circular tube that's a part of his experiment. What experiment, you ask? Well, Future has invented a way to produce clean energy!... by using gas. Yes, that kind of gas -- onara = fart ( ゜д゜)ポカーン So here's how it works -- the car Fine's in runs around the tube generating energy from the gas to light a huge bulb. And that's not all -- it smells like flowers. I'm sorry, I don't get it (^^;;)

Anyways, the experiment starts -- note that Future is the one providing the... fuel... not Fine as the title made it seem. Meanwhile, Rein tries to get an interview with the four members of the science club who walked out, but they're not being helpful... The experiment seems to be going pretty well until the car Fine's in speeds up and the machine starts going haywire. Future can't shut it off, so he has no choice but to stop the car by damaging the machine. Now it won't work... Fine wants to help out and says she'll fix the machine by using magic, but Future tells her no, he'll fix it and do the experiment by himself. Fine says that she'll go get the other members of the science club just in case something were to go wrong...

It's time for the school news, so Fine and Rein rush in to watch it along with Chiffon. Toma's the host (seems to be quite popular with the ladies), and he starts off by announcing who did best on a test given last month --Chiffon, of course (too many stars!). Next up is results of another test, then another test, and another one..... Kyukyu and Pyupyu are bored to sleep. Fine and Rein don't get it -- Chiffon explains that the news is for introducing the best students, so that's why it's all about grades.

While eating, Fine and Rein talk about perhaps making the news a bit funner to watch. Chiffon thinks it very fushigi, of course. Rein's always wanted to try being a newscaster, and she imagines what it'd be like and what clothes she'd wear. Toma comes up and asks her if she'd want to try it. Rein's very excited, and she's going to do her best! Fine is left alone at the table as everyone gathers around Rein... seems Toma's reason for letting Rein do the news is to split her and Fine apart...

Camelot and Lulu are overjoyed to hear the news from Rein and hurry to get her prepared. Fine sits by herself.. later, as Fine and Rein are about to go to bed, Rein explains that she wants to do a fun show that will make people that watch it happy. If she's with Fine she's sure they can do it :) Well, there went Toma's plan (not very smart one there...)...

The next day, Fango sits in a tree next to that statue of Elizabert we saw in the first episode. There's a bird nest in the tree... Fine and Rein are ready to go get some news! Chiffon finds it fushigi (of course), and eventually Noche catches up with them as they see Fango sleeping next to the Elizabert statue. Fine thinks it cute, so she's ready to tape, but Noche tells her she'd better not -- they'll get their butts kicked. Fango wakes up and tells them to scram. He notices a chick seemingly about to fall out of the bird's nest in the tree and holds his hands out to catch it if it falls. Thankfully, it stays in the nest. Seems Fango is actually a really nice guy... Rein thinks this would be great for the news, nice and heartwarming stuff. Toma's watching from nearby -- no need for heartwarming things around here (of course).

Elizabert, along with Shasha and Carla speak with the vice principal about getting rid of the tree that's blocking the statue of Elizabert. He says he'll get it done...

It's the first day of classes, and of course Fine and Rein have no intention of waking up when their alarms go off, hitting the snooze button and going back to sleep. However, two familiar faces walk in to wake the two up -- Camelot blows a whistle and Lulu plays a trumpet as loudly as they can to wake Fine and Rein up. Camelot and Lulu are now the dorm mothers there, so they'll be making sure Fine and Rein do as they should. After getting ready it's off to school...

The first thing Fine and Rein see is a wall full of new rules -- no using magic during class, etc., etc. After homeroom with Tamba Rin where she explains the team system once again (Noche's teamed up with Shade and Solo, so good for him) it's off to music class. Today's class is about rhythm, and they'll be using a very DDR-ish machines that have colored pads to step on to practice. Elizabert doesn't want such a plain one, so her two attendants hurriedly put together something a bit more fancy for her (^^;;) It's time to start for Team Gemini (Fine and Rein's team), Team Jewel (Altessa must've gotten her way for now), Team Celeb (Elizabert's team), and Team Samba (Leonne!). Leonne's group is quite good as you'd expect and everybody else keeps up pretty well. Everybody except for the veeeeery slow-paced Elizabert. Shasha and Carla use their hands to do Elizabert's part for her (^^;;) Pyupyu and Kyukyu seem to think it's pretty fun so they join in and soon enough cause some major trouble, causing the machines to speed up then explode. Ooops... there go 5 points...

Starting this time, before the OP we get a quick summary as was done the first half of the first season (with the same music, too). btw, there is a term for the part that comes before the OP in a show -- it's called the アバン aban (from French avant, "before").

Anyways, it's finally the first day of class, and as usual, Fine and Rein oversleep and make a mad dash to get to school. March waits at the door, counting down the seconds -- unfortunately for her, they're just barely safe. Fine and Rein end up in the A class with Sophie, Leonne, Altessa, Solo, and Shade. Miruro, the Seed Kingdom princesses, Bright, Tio, and Auler are in the B class. Noche's also in the A class, even though he's an upperclassman.. he wanted to be with Fine (up goes the Fine-Noche flag?). Fine thinks that he's there because he failed, and tells him he'll make it this time, making him cry (^^;;) Of course, Elizabert and her two attendants end up in the class as well. One of the girls in the class stares at Fine and Rein... Fine and Rein think she wants to be friends with them, so they do the gokigenyo dance.

The door opens, but nobody seems to be there... a little woman tries to dash up a plank to the top of the desk at the front, but she rolls back down. That's their teacher, Tanba Rin, from the Seed Kingdom. Another teacher, Ban Jo, comes to check on her -- he seems to have a crush on her. Tanba Rin explains the system in place at the school -- everything is based on points. Once you reach 100 points you graduate, but if you go down to -100 you're expelled. Fine has a question -- when's snack time? The class laughs, and Fine does a mini version of the iyaiya dance with just her hands (^^;;) A notebook is handed to each student in the class to keep track of their points. The new students start with 10, but Fine and Rein are already down to 4 points... the classes are all based on teams of three students -- if the group does badly then everyone loses points, and if they do good everyone gains points. The first day of classes is the next day.

The vice principal thinks that it must be a mistake that Fine and Rein have become Universal Princesses, so he takes away the Bell Charms that are the proof of that and also the two little fairies that came with them. Until Fine and Rein shape up he'll be keeping them... and they had just gotten it, too. Oh well... Chiffon suddenly pops up behind them, saying "fushigi" over and over again. Being able to transform, wanting to make friends, it's all rather strange and interesting to her. Her ponytails move a bit while she talks. Too cute :) Bright mentions that Chiffon's only six years old. Shade asks Chiffon if she might know anything about the Universal Princess and such. After thinking a bit, she remembers seeing those dresses Fine and Rein were wearing somewhere...

Chiffon takes everybody to a stained glass window depicting a Universal Princess along with those two little fairies. There's some more information in a book at the library. Apparently they get their power through those fairies, but since they're still only babies right now Fine and Rein will have to bring them up. Everybody sits down outside -- another chance for Fine and Rein to use the power of the Happy Belun will certainly come soon. They want to use it to make everybody get along, which is rather odd to Chiffon. Fine and Rein do the nakayoku dance again, and this time poor Altessa gets pulled in to dance along (^^;;) So helping out others is this "getting along" thing...

Fushigi HiME? ;) Seems there are still some things even Chiffon doesn't know out there.

Chiffon takes everybody to the dormitories. Fine wants to go to the cafeteria and eat first, of course, but before she can do that a boy walks out. He's Fango, prince of the Gretel Planet, and apparently something of a thug with a bad rep (and quite a deep voice) so nobody ever approaches him. Despite that, Rein steps foward asks him if he'd like to have tea with them sometime. Fango just walks on by... "Fushigi!", Chiffon says yet again. Apparently that's the first time anyone has invited him for anything. Anyways, Fine's about at her limit so she runs in to find the cafeteria and Rein follows, but they end up running through the boys' dorm. That would definitely be against the rules.

A meganekko peeps out from behind a plant near the door of the dorm. She saw them do it -- she blows her whistle and holds up a yellow card with "-1" written on it (this soccer or something?), and gives one to Fine and Rein. She thinks she'll be seeing them again soon and goes back inside. Chiffon says that was March, princess of the "Public Morals Planet" (doesn't sound like a fun place...), so she's kinda strict about these things. So there are so many people from so many different planets here -- Fine and Rein want to become friends with all of them, so they decide to have a party for everyone. All of the others will help them out.. Fine and Rein do a "fight" dance that's not exactly all that motivating (^^;;) Fushigi, fushigi, Chiffon says again.

futagohimegyu_op.jpg
Opening: "Kimi no ashita" by FLIP-FLAP - Gyu! to Gyu! to! FLIP-FLAP returns to do the op for Gyu!, but it's a different style than the first season -- more of a rock feel with electric guitars and such, and the lyrics make sense unlike the first season. I like it ;) Animation is picked up in tempo to match the new feel as we're introduced to all of the characters at Fine and Rein's new school. Pretty easy to tell who the bad guy is, ain't it? Anyways, kawaii~! terakawaisu! Miruro's in there, too, and looking cute as usual. Same for Fine and Rein... cuter than before, if that's possible :) GJ, Jun'ichi Satou (storyboard) and Tatsufumi Tamagawa (OP director)!

futagohimegyu_ed.jpg
Ending: "Gakuen Tengoku" by Wonder 5: A cover of a hit song by the Finger 5... by a kid band that probably is involved with some tie-in with the show. Let's say I hope we get a new ED that's a song from Fine and Rein quickly... please (^^;;) Song aside, animation is great. Fine and Rein dance again, but it ain't ballroom dancing ;) GJ, Keiji Gotou (storyboard)!

Fine and Rein prepare to leave the Fushigiboshi to go to the Royal Wonder Academy, where princes and princesses from all over go to gain the right to become a king or queen. Fine and Rein's parents went there and had a lot of fun, they say. Fine and Rein are all packed and ready to go, wearing their very cute new school uniforms. Pumo's impressed, and so are Camelot and Lulu... until Fine and Rein's luggage bursts open since they stuffed too much in there (^^;;) Now they're gonna be very much late for the train to the Royal Wonder Academy. Fine and Rein do the dame dance (very deformed) since they think they won't make it. As they approach the station a train with the other princes and princesses of the Fushigiboshi leaves. But there's another train that'll be coming soon, so it's all okay. Everybody says goodbye to Fine and Rein as they get on the train.

The train leaves the Fushigiboshi and goes into space (this Galaxy Express 999 or something?). Fine and Rein hear crying, and look behind to see someone in the ○| ̄|_ position. It's prince (at least I think it's princess... that's what it says on the website... or maybe a guy... said "prince"... I dunno, everybody's confused, we'll go with "her" for now and change it later if need be... ED: Noche's character description on the website now says "prince", so prince it is) Noche from the Orchestra Planet. Noche was late getting on a train because of getting his violin repaired, and... he's quite a crybaby, and though hedoesn't look it, actually senpai to Fine and Rein. Fine and Rein try to cheer him up and ask if he'll play violin for them. Of course, being from the Orchestra Planet he's extremely good. Fine and Rein are with Noche so things'll be okay.. and Fine and Rein do a daijoubu dance that doesn't look very daijoubu (^^;;)

They finally arrive at the Royal Wonder Academy station and get off. Fine and Rein see another train with a picture of an Elizabert from the Celeb Planet on it and think it's a place for people to draw to introduce themselves, so they draw rather crude pictures of themself. Noche giggles to himself... however, that seems to be against the rules of the school, as the vice principal and two other teachers (who look very much like certain characters from the previous series) come and say no laughing at things that don't deserve to be laughed at. Tough place (^^;;) The vice principal is none too pleased with Fine and Rein's scribbles... said Elizabert of the Celeb Planet makes her entrance as a celebrity would on a red carpet, of course. She's accompanied by two others who seem to be her attendants of some sort or another. Though she doesn't look it, Elizabert's a rather slow-paced girl, speaking sloooooowly and like a woman from way back when would speak. She calls for a reward for the vice principal -- a pod teleports in, and inside is a giant gold statue of herself (^^;;)... Fine and Rein finally arrive at the Royal Wonder Academy...
