Koikaze 3

Unlike last episode, Koushirou is mostly nice to Nanoka this time :) He's still thinking about all the stuff that's gone on with her the past few days, and can't sleep because of it. So he goes and gets out his teddy bear and washes it and such :) There's a flashback to when he was a kid.. a rather whiny one, too.. couldn't sleep without his bear. Awwwww :) When Nanoka comes to wake him up she sees the bear and takes it, then gives Koushirou her teddy bear.. which he then proceeds to pick on :P

Back at school, one of Nanoka's friends has completely fallen for a kakkoii high school guy she saw on the train. Too bad he's already got a girlfriend.. one of Nanoka's other friends. And while Nanoka and her friend spy on them they kiss. Oh my... ;)

When Nanoka gets home, she's not in a good mood and stays in her room. Koushirou (being a good onii-chan), is a bit worried, but doesn't know what to do about it. Nanoka finally comes out and says that she'll take a walk, but Koushirou won't let her go alone, and still has no idea what's bothering her. So she tells him.. it's ahem... it's only that "that" is a bit rough on her. (Koushirou (blushing): "Huh?") So they go out and take a nice stroll, holding hands a bit, Nanoka telling Koushirou that she saw her friend kissing that boy earlier and wondering whether "I'll kiss someone someday". We shall see, ne?

Chidori ga yuku
Like the first episode, Koushirou confesses what he's done this time... picked on the teddy bear, saw something in the laundry... Chidori doesn't like that, of course...

So Koushirou gets a surprise when wiping his face off :)

Regarding the licensing status of these Geneon USA co-produced anime y'all might want to read the report from their Anime Boston panel.

Responding to another question regarding licensing, Kime stated that it was not always 100% certain that Geneon Entertainment (USA) would distribute titles that it co-produced.

I think that would be the case with Koikaze, that they would wait on it a bit, or not distribute it at all, given the nature of the story. We'll see...

Koikaze 2

Well, the title says it all for this week, 春愁 shunshuu, "Spring" then "Distress". That's basically how Koushirou acts for most of the episode. Like a jerk :P He's really mean to Nanoka. I can understand why he's embarrassed about saying all that stuff to her, but c'mon, there's no need to act like that. Thankfully, he gets his act together by the end of the episode :)

千鳥がゆく - Chidori ga yuku
Since the next ep previews for Koikaze are rather unique I'll blog them, too :) Wish I could read the text that scrolls across the bottom so I would know what's coming up next episode, though. The interlacing artifacts make it difficult, and even when I turn on deinterlacing it's still hard to read. Anyways...

One of Koushirou's coworkers (his name is written 圭. The one with the glasses) confesses that he wants to get to know some girls that go to a girls' school. No surprise there since he buys 「ワタオニ」 wataoni (abbreviation for 「わたしのおにいちゃん」, watashi no onii-chan. "My big brother", but not necessarily "big brother", just an older guy). I don't think Chidori likes that... so his punishment is....

Koikaze 1 Out!

Anime-Station has released Koikaze 1. I'm downloading it through IRC now (293K/sec) so I can double-check myself. Those of y'all that watch it, add your impressions here :)

Raw of Koikaze 2 should be out pretty soon, and Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai 2, too. I know I could get them earlier if I helped l33t-raws do some BT seeding, but I've only got 13KB/sec upload.

Edited 12:21AM: I hadn't watched any subs by Anime-Station before so I wasn't sure about the quality of translation. But from the bits I've checked it's fine. We do have a bit of a disagreement about the opening song... I definitely hear 壊れる kowareru ("to be broken, to break") where they have 焦がれる kogareru ("to yearn for"), and I might translate some stuff differently... but again, that's just me being nitpicky. And, btw, 千鳥 Chidori is a character in the show (she's one of Koushirou's coworkers). So I would translate the title of the preview segment 千鳥がゆく Chidori ga yuku as "Chidori Comes" (she's the one that hands out the punishment, so that's why it's named after her), instead of "1000 Birds Come" (which is literally what Chidori means) ;) Anyway, thanks for subbing the show, guys :)

Koikaze 1

Edited 4/2 - 3:46PM: Corrected with Nanoka's name (the girl) in there now :)

Okay, first episode of Koikaze, so standard pratice for first episodes, lotsa screencaps for all of y'all and bit longer than usual summary :) Also I watched this episode raw, no subs, so I might have missed some things and I apologize in advance for things I might have gotten wrong. But I did understand a good bit of what went on :)

Well, let's get started, shall we? :) First of all, the opening was pretty nice. "Nanoka is kawaii" was the first thought that ran through my head, lol.... We start off with Koushirou getting on the train to go to work. He's not in too good a mood since his girlfriend broke up with him... At one stop, a girl on the train, Nanoka, drops something and Koushirou goes to give it back to her, but doesn't think that much of it.

Koushirou works at a marriage consulting place. One of his coworkers there is pretty loud and obnoxious... anyways.... when he gets home from work his dad says that his sister, who Koushirou has been separated from for about 10 years, is moving in.... After work the next day he gets a couple of tickets to a theme park from one of his coworkers... and guess who's outside? Nanoka, that girl from earlier. Since he doesn't have anyone else to go with he goes with her since she's just waiting for her father and has some free time. After every ride he just about gets sick, lol. Not one for those I guess... They eventually get to the ferris wheel. Then the conversation gets a bit more interesting.. She tells Koushirou about this trinket she got as a graduation present from middle school from the person she liked.. but when she mustered up the courage to confess (kokuhaku suru in Japanese) she got turned away.. she says she should just throw it away out the window. But Koushirou tells her not to do it if she still likes him.. He talks about how he was always rejected.. but says that she should still treasure that love, then starts crying... then after all of that... Nanaka's father shows up and who should it be but... Koushirou's father... oh my... They didn't realize they were brother and sister at all. That's it for this episode :) The way the next episode preview was done was rather interesting, lol...

Well, from this first episode, this looks like something I'll enjoy watching. I wonder exactly how the relationship between Koushirou and his sister will develop?.... The animation and such looks pretty decent and the music is pretty nice, too. I'll download the fansub when it's available just to double-check and make sure that my Japanese worked for me, lol :)
