Akazukin (hungry as usual) sings as she skips down the road with the others, and just in time for Halloween they come upon a pumpkin patch. It's one with rather odd pumpkins that suddenly grow when they hear music, as a helpful talking scarecrow explains. Val can carry the big pumpkin (he's not a donkey, he's a dog wolf!)... Unbeknownst to them, they're being watched by Randagio along with the rest of the Bremen crew, and this time they'll get Akazukin for sure. They play some rather bad music, and a scary pumpkin they name Pumpking@Norio Wakamoto (Burraaaaaaaaaaa!) grows to match. With it, they go interrupt Akazukin's snack, and for once they get through their introduction. By playing music they can control the big Pumpking, so there's nothing Akazukin and the others can do (oi, Akazukin, stop eating!)... but as usual, Hamelin shows up out of nowhere (nice one, Ringo) to save... well, not save them since he seems to have had some kind of traumatic experience with pumpkins (^^;;)

Walking along with a Juusi~, juusi~ and a zukkyun~, zukkyun~, Akazukin and the others have no idea where the heck they're going. Luckily for them, a boy named Hans comes by on a cart and gives them a ride to a village nearby. Akazukin wants something to eat (of course), so she asks Hans where they could get a meal... and it so happens that Hans' grandmother runs a cafe. Akazukin wants everything on the menu (^^;;) The meat served is quite jusi~.. juicy, yes ;) While eating, Souta asks Hans' grandmother if she knows the rest of that story about the two worlds -- she says she had a card of some sort that had it, but she can't find it. When everybody's done and it's time to pay up... nobody has any money. Go figure (^^;;)
Meanwhile, at Sandryon's castle, the king sends that mascot, Kyupi, through a portal to find Souta and bring him there. Sandryon doesn't stop him since it'll be quite helpful to her since she can't locate Souta...

Souta, Ringo, Akazukin, Shirayuki, Ibara, and Val-sama slide on the Otogi Road (read: a ridiculously long slide) into Fandavale. However, the road starts disappearing and soon they fall off, but thankfully Shirayuki provides for a somewhat soft landing with some snow. Meanwhile, at the castle, Hamelin sits in a cell... while fighting monsters with his magical horn, he found out that his friend, the captain of the Clover Knights, betrayed him. As it always is when making a deal with evil, that friend met his demise once he was no longer needed. When the castle came under siege, the king of Fandavale ordered Hamelin to stay behind and give a message to the Key of Erde... so he's waiting in his cell for the key to come...
Akazukin, Ibara, and Shirayuki go to investigate the castle, leaving Souta and Ringo behind. Souta goes right for the flowers (^^;;) He finds a backpack filled with... oden cans? And an otonagai (大人買い - buying a large amount of something. Otona because adults have the money to do that. Often used among otaku) worth of them, too... must be Randagio. Sure enough, Randagio comes along looking for his backpack. Souta and Ringo hide inside the backback and get carried away by Randagio.. who should realize that his backpack is too heavy (^^;;)

Gretel brings Ringo back to onii-sama, Hansel, but he doesn't understand why -- she thinks she can lure the Key of Erde that way, and she's not giving up yet.... Meanwhile, Val-sama sniffs out the potato stew Ringo had made for Souta (that nose of his is good for something..) and finds both that and her phone. Behind them a light shines on a small box with a cutout of an apple tree on top -- one of the apples turns into Ringo and is taken away. They hear Gretel's voice -- she's waiting in a "steel forest" for the Key of Erde.
Akazukin leaves the group, making up an excuse so Souta won't know Ringo's in danger. Shirayuki and Ibara do the same, leaving Souta only with Val-sama. Souta tries calling Ringo's phone -- it's inside the pouch Val-sama is carrying. Something's happened to Ringo.. he tries to leave, but Val-sama stops him. Souta looks at his cellphone -- wallpaper is of him and Ringo, of course -- and remembers. Little Ringo's too cute. "da zo~!" :) Souta tells Val-sama he's going to the bathroom.. but Val-sama knows that's not the case and stops him not far away. Souta can't just leave Ringo by herself -- they've always been together. Val-sama tells him to jump on.... very cool for once, Val-sama ;)

Shirayuki uses her magic to reveal a gate to Fandavale at a playground. It's getting rather small so they're going to have to return soon before it closes...
Ringo seems to be in a very good mood this time, skipping around since there's a festival coming up. Ringo gives Souta a list of ingredients for her special potato stew and tells him to come along with her to get stuff later, then skips away. Souta then feels something looking at him... back at Souta's house, Akazukin, ready with a frying pan, and Val-sama are going to try and wake Ibara up. Of course, Ibara ends up halfway awake, her vines chasing Akazukin and Val-sama around the room.
Shirayuki comes back to find Akazukin and Val-sama bandaged up after getting stuck by Ibara's vines. For some reason Val-sama is watching a show on TV about dogs. I thought you were a wolf (^^;;) Shirayuki tells them that the road to Fandavale is closing. Something must've happened to the king, so Ibara must've come to tell them about it. They have to return to Fandavale as quickly as possible. But what about Souta? He says he wants to go -- he heard the last part of their conversation...
Souta goes with Ringo to buy ingredients for her stew, and on the way back says he won't be able to help out at the festival since he's got somewhere he has to go -- Fandavale, together with Akazukin and the rest. Ringo says no -- he can't go off to some unknown world where something might happen to him. He can't do anything without her around.. but he still wants to go. Ringo takes the grocery bag from Souta and runs off...

Souta and Ringo's class is going on a bit of a trip to do some drawing outside, so Akazukin and Shirayuki want to come along to protect Souta. They're staying home. Shirayuki tells Souta to call on her through the wind if he's even in trouble... During class, Souta decides to draw flowers, of course, talking to them while he draws. His classmates seem to be impressed with his ability, saying he'll be something big someday. Very understanding classmates there. And even if his classmates think he's odd, Souta's got his osananajimi (and tsundere), Ringo, there... he doesn't pay much attention to her appeals, though (^^;;)
Souta and Ringo walk through a garden of roses -- it's kinda like a date, Ringo says. Souta doesn't seem to think so.. well, he obviously hasn't been on a date. Neither has she... but he can't keep on thinking of her as just an osananajimi. Souta notices something ahead and runs off (^^;;) There, a girl is sleeping...
Meanwhile... Akazukin, Shirayuki, and Val-sama are, as usual, trying to find Souta... and Akakzukin's nose goes into action, smelling a crepe stand nearby (^^;;) Akazukin and Shirayuki get pulled away by somebody saying that it's already begun.. What? A cosplay contest, which Akazukin, Shirayuki, and Val-sama win. Not the time for that, really...
Back with Souta and Ringo -- the girl wakes up and sends vines toward them. Souta calls out to Shirayuki, his voice reaching her over the wind...

We left off last time with Val-sama sensing a presence even stronger than a nightmarian at the school... and at school it's study hall for Souta and Ringo's class. But Shirayuki then comes in, saying that she's teaching the class. Huh? Akazukin, hanging upside down just outside the classroom window, opens the window and asks what the heck Shirayuki's doing. Well, this way Shirayuki can keep an eye on Souta. Akazukin, of course, doesn't approve of that. Shirayuki shuts the window and Akazukin drops to the flower bed below, though this time managing to not land on flowers. Val-sama praises her.. for that? (^^;;) He says to leave this to Shirayuki for now.. he's got something else on his mind to check out.
Shirayuki-sensei writes themes for a paper on the board -- What clothes would look well on her?, What accessories would look good on her?, etc, etc. Probably one of those assignments where you have to suck up, otherwise you get a bad grade (^^;;) Shirayuki seems to have her eye on Erika.. Erika looks at some clock-like item and then asks if she can go to the nurses' office since she's feeling bad. Shirayuki says no, but Ringo and Souta say they'll go with her there. Meanwhile... Val-sama's found what he was looking for -- yup, the room where food is stored for lunch. Akazukin and Val-sama start devouring bentou box lunches. Nothing but food inside their heads, is there...
Erika looks at her clock thing, seemingly waiting for something to happen.. but nothing happens, so she runs outside. There, Shirayuki is waiting for her. Shirayuki pulls out a mirror in the same shape as Erika's clock. The mirrors would be used to create an akuukan (spelling?) -- think fuuzetsu from Shana. Erika is an enemy, not a friend, but Ringo and Souta don't want to believe that... Erika says it herself -- she's Gretel. She transforms into her evil form... I'm sorry, but it's hard not to see that outfit as anything other than a hadaka apron (^^;;) And she's got a Buster Sword huge sword, too. Shirayuki casts a protection spell on Souta and Ringo, but she's soon sent outside the barrier by Gretel's attacks...

Souta dreams of Akazuking fighting.. a bug, and of course Shirayuki-hime shows up as well and she and Akazukin start fighting when Ringo shows up to tell them to cut it out. When Kouta finally does wake up, Akazukin, Ringo, and Shirayuki-hime are already arguing. It would seem Shirayuki-hime has issues with Souta's house -- not big enough, no private bath for her, no this and that, so on, so on. But that's not really the problem -- there's no barrier protecting the house at all, and she was expecting Akazukin to put one up. Akazukin can't use that kind of magic, though.. Shirayuki-hime gives her a good talking to -- Val-sama says that there's no one in Fandavale that can't beat Shirayuki-hime in an argument.
It's about time for Souta to be going to school. School? Of course he has to go, even though it's dangerous with the nightmarians out for him. Shirayuki-hime, Akazukin, and Val-sama want to go along, but that's not going to happen if Ringo has a say in it. If they come along it'll be a big mess, and one of those monsters might come along again, she says, looking at Shirayuki-hime. Val-sama's very impressed that she got Shirayuki-hime to go along... After Souta and Ringo leave, Akazukin decides to go to school, keeping a low profile so she can protect Souta. Val-sama wants to go, too, but he'd stand out the most -- sorry, but that's quite right, Val-sama. He'll have to stay behind with Shirayuki-hime, who will work on putting up a barrier.
At school, there's a new mysterious transfer student named Erika Shizumori. 13 years old, supposedly ;)She seems to know a lot about the story Souta's researching, talking with him in the library about it. Souta stops himself before mentioning anything about the Three Musketeers. Erika asks him to show her around the school. Of course, Ringo sees Souta with her... Souta asks Ringo if she wants to go with him to show Erika around, but she reacts as you'd expect, all tsuntsun and seemingly jealous. Ringo's friends then come in the classroom with some big news...

Souta wakes up, but Akazukin and Val-sama are still asleep. It wasn't a dream, they're still there.. and now Ringo at the door making her usual morning visit. Uh-oh... Souta stalls for time as Akazukin walks down the stairs with Val-sama to go to the bathroom, but after Akazukin and Val-sama come out the game's up (^^;;)
Ringo's not exactly pleased to have a cosplay girl (Akazukin) and a huge dog (Val-sama) in the house with Souta. Akazukin and Val-sama enjoy the meat and potato stew that Ringo brought over for Souta to eat. Akazukin loves it, and Val-sama likes it so much he shouts out "Umeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!". Akazukin explains that she and Val-sama came to save Souta from those monsters, the nightmarians. Val-sama tells her that she's saying too much, though...
Meanwhile, Hansel asks Randagio, who's enjoying oden (jinkou oden!), if he's found the whereabouts of the boy with the key... And he also asks if the oden is any good.
Akazukin and Val-sama are amazed at all the things in the house -- the washing machine works without using MAGIC, the freezer is cool without using MAGIC, the TV shows stuff without using MAGIC. I thought they were going to keep quiet about things (^^;;) On the TV Akazukin and Val-sama see a shop with very nice crepes introduced and they want to have a taste, so they end up going out.
Ringo keeps Val-sama on a leash and tells him not to talk since the dogs in Tokyo don't talk -- nice tsukkomi by Val-sama saying that's the case everywhere. Akazukin tries to pay for a crepe with her own money, but of course it wouldn't be accepted in Japan. Ringo ends up paying since Souta didn't bring his wallet. After that, they have a drink at a coffee shop and Akazukin explains what's going on.
