<p>Good afternoon, everybody. Not at work today since the <a href="http://www.uga.edu/">University of Georgia</a> is closed due to the <a href="http://www.onlineathens.com/stories/030209/new_400015421.shtml">5-7 inches of snow we got around Athens yesterday</a>. Snow&#8217;s not melting a whole lot, so schools might be closed tomorrow, too. Unlike y&#8217;all up north, we don&#8217;t know how to deal with this much snow. Didn&#8217;t help that the power was out from Sunday afternoon until this morning (^^;;</p>
<p><a href="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/100_3769.jpg"><img src="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/100_3769-361x250.jpg" alt="Idolmaster SP and Tales of Eternia" title="Idolmaster SP and Tales of Eternia" width="361" height="250" class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1442" /></a></p>
<p>I got <b>Tales of Eternia</b> and <b>Idolmaster SP Wandering Star</b> from <a href="http://www.yesasia.com/">YesAsia</a> in Friday, and since there wasn&#8217;t much to do with the power out yesterday, I played PSP. Mostly Eternia, though. Iori&#8217;s gonna be mad at me for not keeping a promise to produce yesterday (^^;; I actually hadn&#8217;t played Idolmaster (only watched videos and such), so I had to learn how to do the producer thing &mdash; harder than it looks (^^;; Iori&#8217;s only at rank E now, so there&#8217;s still a long way to go. I&#8217;ll do Ami/Mami after I make Iori top idol.</p>

<p>Hey, y&#8217;all~! It&#8217;s been more than a few months since I last said anything around here&#8230; not that I had anything interesting to say then or now, but I figured I&#8217;d try out this WordPress thing that everybody else is using along with trying to post just a wee bit more. The <a href="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/archives.html">old pages are still around</a> so any links should still work just fine. Now to try and figure out a decent theme&#8230;</p>
<p>I would try to blame the lack of posting on my almost full-time job working the phones at the <a href="http://www.uga.edu/">University of Georgia</a> HelpDesk, but there&#8217;s a lot of downtime there (enough for much <a href="http://www.nicovideo.jp/">Nico Nico-ing</a>) so that wouldn&#8217;t pass&#8230; Once you stop doing something it&#8217;s hard to get back into the habit. I&#8217;ll try posting more than once a month as a start (^^;;</p>
<p>Anyways, moving on now&#8230; here&#8217;s my viewing schedule for the season, along with my best attempt to sum up how I feel about each in approximately one sentence&#8230; or paragraph, maybe.</p>
<p><br clear="all" /><br />
<span id="more-3"></span></p>
<p><strong>Sunday</strong><br />
<em>Kyou no 5 no 2</em><br />
I didn&#8217;t like the character design (faces weird), but then the second episode turned out to be good so now I watch, still hoping that each episode&#8217;s animation director moves the look closer to the manga design.</p>
<p><strong>Monday</strong><br />
<div id="attachment_25" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021225752.jpg"><img src="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021225752-300x168.jpg" alt="German this time" title="snapshot20081021225752" width="300" height="168" class="size-medium wp-image-25" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">German this time</p></div><em>ef ~ a tale of melodies.</em><br />
I like SHAFT. I liked <em>ef ~ a tale of memories.</em>. Therefore I watch, and I like (Chihiro showed up in this week&#8217;s episode~). And thankfully, one of my coworkers is a grad student from Germany.</p>
<p><br clear="all" /></p>
<p><strong>Wednesday</strong><br />
<div id="attachment_24" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021225637.jpg"><img src="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021225637-300x168.jpg" alt="Tsundere... obviously" title="snapshot20081021225637" width="300" height="168" class="size-medium wp-image-24" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Tsundere... obviously</p></div><em>Toradora!</em><br />
Like <em>Kyou no 5 no 2</em>, I didn&#8217;t like the character design, then I saw it in motion. Rie Kugimiya as cute <em>tsundere</em> Taiga. Good enough for me.</p>
<p><br clear="all" /></p>
<p><strong>Thursday</strong><br />
<div id="attachment_23" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021225503.jpg"><img src="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021225503-300x225.jpg" alt="Onii-chan?" title="snapshot20081021225503" width="300" height="225" class="size-medium wp-image-23" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Onii-chan?</p></div><em>CLANNAD after story</em><br />
KyoAni fan, so of course. Mei-chan kawaii yo Mei-chan! in last week&#8217;s episode. Thank you, episode animation director Yukiko Horiguchi, character designer for Lucky Star (easy to guess). I&#8217;ll have the kleenex ready for later on, though. And why do you keep on doing this to us, TBS? (4:3 Pan &#038; Scan instead of 16:9)</p>
<p><br clear="all" /></p>
<p><div id="attachment_22" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021225243.jpg"><img src="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021225243-300x225.jpg" alt="....no" title="snapshot20081021225243" width="300" height="225" class="size-medium wp-image-22" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">....no</p></div><em>Yozakura Quartet</em><br />
Character design not my preference, but interested because of director Kou Matsuo. Pre-scoring isn&#8217;t having as much an effect as it did for <em>Kurenai</em>, though, since the material isn&#8217;t suited to it. Last week&#8217;s story was somewhat odd.. Jukki Hanada chief scriptwriter. And why do you keep on doing this to us, TBS? (4:3 Pan &#038; Scan instead of 16:9)</p>
<p><br clear="all" /></p>
<p><strong>Saturday</strong><br />
<div id="attachment_20" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021225056.jpg"><img src="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021225056-300x168.jpg" alt="New goods to sell to kids... is that a bad sign?" title="snapshot20081021225056" width="300" height="168" class="size-medium wp-image-20" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">New goods to sell to kids... is that a bad sign?</p></div><em>Shugo Chara! doki</em><br />
Rumors of internal strife among staff have me worried. Change of chief scriptwriter has me worried. The first two episodes being mostly recaps didn&#8217;t help (^^;; However, the new &#8220;pattern&#8221; of characters doing chara-nari is okay. Jun&#8217;ichi Satou (ARIA, Futago Hime, etc., etc.) as supervisor is good — I&#8217;m waiting for when he does storyboards for an ep. When will they get back to the manga storyline, though?</p>
<p><br clear="all" /></p>
<p><div id="attachment_18" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021224826.jpg"><img src="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021224826-300x168.jpg" alt="No points for people who thought the OP would be a dance" title="snapshot20081021224826" width="300" height="168" class="size-medium wp-image-18" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">No points for people who thought the OP would be a dance</p></div><br />
<em>Kannagi</em><br />
Yamakan FTW! After being fired from KyoAni, director Yutaka Yamamoto tries to prove that he&#8217;s at the level of director, and succeeds so far. Best animation quality this season. Easy to do since he took some KyoAni staff with him to form Ordet.</p>
<p><br clear="all" /></p>
<p><div id="attachment_15" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021224357.jpg"><img src="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021224357-300x168.jpg" alt="Anise, in not cute mode" title="snapshot20081021224357" width="300" height="168" class="size-medium wp-image-15" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Anise, in not cute mode</p></div><br />
<em>Tales of the Abyss</em> <b>(HD)</b><br />
I haven&#8217;t played the game. But I have watched a playthrough of the game (on Nico Nico, of course), so I know how the story goes. Anise kawaii yo Anise! Faithful to the game, but can they do it all in 26 episodes?</p>
<p><br clear="all" /></p>
<p><div id="attachment_11" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021223600.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-11" title="snapshot20081021223600" src="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021223600-300x168.jpg" alt="Tamako kawaii yo Tamako" width="300" height="168" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Tamako kawaii yo Tamako</p></div><br />
<em>Kemeko Deluxe</em><br />
Read the first volume of the manga. Director Tsutomu Mizushima (Dokuro-chan, Dai Mahou Touge, Hare Guu) = chaos as expected. OP and ED are this season&#8217;s tops in crazy stuff — I agree with the bit in the ED about Freud being a perverted old man. Chiwa Saito at her best(?). Rie Kugimiya&#8217;s non-tsundere characters are always amusing.</p>
<p><br clear="all" /></p>
<p><div id="attachment_13" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021223921.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-13" title="snapshot20081021223921" src="http://matthew.animeblogger.net/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/snapshot20081021223921-300x168.jpg" alt="Index bunny. Cute" width="300" height="168" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Index bunny. Cute</p></div><br />
<em>To Aru Majutsu no Index</em> <b>(HD)</b><br />
<span style="text-decoration: line-through;">Shana?</span> Light novel anime means much explanation of setting. But I&#8217;m okay with it since Index and Komoe-sensei are so cute. Though Komoe-sensei could cut back just a bit on the smoking and drinking. It ruins the loli teacher image (^^;;</p>
